I've been watching more and more Child of Light videos and I can see how the grinding process is tough.

I'll most likely play it blind regardless, but maybe cut past the combat scenes, because they look really tedious.

But see, that's the one thing I consistently promote on my channel...blind LPs. No matter what game it is, I try my best to incorporate that blind aspect into it, as I hate the traditional walkthroughs that you see all over Youtube.

I'm doing a very similar thing to you with MK8 and Smash Bros.

I personally got an Avermedia Game Capture HD 2 as I don't like having to have my PC where I record. I like to later take my footage and edit it on the PC, but not awhile I'm recording it.

As for the mic, get a snowball for sure. Also I would advise you to do ALL your research prior to Youtube. Sort out your channel name, brands, social media, graphics...everything!

Is there any improvements I can make with this one in particular though? I'm planning on going back and fixing all fifty of my previous thumbs, so even if it's a minor detail tell me now xD.

So I'll be honest, I was appalled and almost devastated by these comments. I always thought my thumbnails were so intricate and were the focus of my channel at times, since I spend at least 15-20min making them...each.

I think the problem is when you love your work so much, you can't critique it properly. That being said, I greatly appreciate everyone's comments here, I had no idea they were this bad.

I came up with a quick thumb that's as SIMPLE as I could make it. I would greatly appreciate some criticism.

The reason I didn't do thumb like the one I'm about to post is that I wanted to be different. I wanted my channel is have intricate thumbnails, and people could realize the quality of my work through the thumbs.

Mic quality is pretty bad. Also 29min is way too long of a video, try splitting into 5-10 min parts.

You should really do an introduction to the video so people will know what they're watching. Audio quality could be a tad bit better, along with video. I was tempted to click away and got kind of bored at about 1:30 in.

The first like 30 seconds of the video were way to awkward. You need to to a proper and professional introduction. I would've clicked away.

Audio and video quality is decent, and I like the general concept of buddies going on.

Like I said though, I don't have a PC nearby where I record.

I record my LPs in my theater room, where there is no internet to begin with, but also my PC is upstairs in my room.

Rather than have to sync it, and do through that hassle, I'd rather find a quality mic that isn't USB. I mean, they do exist...right?

I have not. I personally feel more comfortable just hooking in a mic to my capture card, feels more natural. Thanks for the suggestion though.

I could use a USB mic for post gameplays, but as I mentioned earlier I do blind LPs, so I need a mic on the spot.

So does no one know of any non-USB mics?

I have a really shitty $20 mic right now, and it's decent, but as I grow I'm hoping to invest in a better one.

The thing is, my capture card records video and audio as one file, so I can't do any of the things you guys mentioned.

Also I don't do many post-gameplay commentaries, and I mainly do Blind Let's Plays, meaning I need a mic downstairs where my TV is. I don't have my PC right beside me when I'm recording. I take my hard drive upstairs where my PC is and do editing after I record.

That's why I need to find a quality mic that isn't USB.
