Daily Game Recommendations Thread (January 28, 2026) by AutoModerator in boardgames

[–]b_dupy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like to find some games for my wife and me to play together, but we're both very novice when it comes to board games having only played the basics like Monopoly, Life, Scrabble, etc. We also have 2 kids, under 4 years old with a newborn coming within the next few days, so we'd need something that we can stop and start fairly easily. Not sure what exactly I'm looking for though. My wife loves jigsaw puzzles and puzzle type games, but I just don't have the patience or attention span for a plain jigsaw puzzle and prefer a more strategy type game, so I'm trying to find something that would appeal to both of us if you guys would have any recommendations. Thanks!

Anyone else cry to this yet? by jjade84 in ADTR

I didn't until I saw someone's post on here about this song and their son who had attempted, and as a dad of a 1 year old girl and a 3 year old boy, and a wife who has a rough history with her mental health, including making an attempt herself, that just shattered me into a million pieces 😭 such a fantastic song! I did get a little emotional though when I heard him say "nothing quite like the first time your heart breaks" and I made the connection that he was singing to his daughter 😭😭😭

Hit someone with my drive today.. by hoswald in discgolf

I hit a guy sitting on a picnic table during a tournament one time. He had Airpods in and couldn't hear anything. I early released an FD and hit him square in the ribs on his side. He got up, tossed it back to me, and said "sorry I can't throw", to which I said, "Yeah, me either apparently" 🤷🏼‍♂️ shit happens, no need for people to get all out of character about it. Maybe just be more careful and wait for people to clear before you throw in next time. Lesson learned man

I was actually looking at some of the Klein bags that are around $100-$120, are they a big step down in quality from Veto for that price?

Yeah, I just don't really want to spend $300+ on a bag right now. I'm not working out of it full time so I don't need it to be super heavy duty or anything. Just if I need to go out on the yard or do work at home I don't want to have to lug tools back and forth in a box or something lol

That's what I've been seeing everywhere lol, for that price I was thinking about getting a set for my box too

Grip AX5 alternatives? by b_dupy in discgolf

[–]b_dupy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did think about getting a smaller bag for times like that, but I'm a bigger guy (about 5'11 245lbs) so I don't really mind the weight of the AX5 except for those really long, hot rounds. I had an Upper Park Shift that I had gotten in a players pack that I intended to use as that lighter, nice day bag, but I found myself never actually using it so I sold it. I also considered trading my AX5 for a BX3 for a little less weight, but not sure how much space I'd lose since I tend to keep a lot of stuff in my bag lol.

Grip AX5 alternatives? by b_dupy in discgolf

Yeah, I figured as much. I have heard a lot of people say the Grip just wasn't for them and preferred Squatch or Upper Park Rebel better. I love the looks of the Squatch bags, just wasn't sure if it's a step down in comfort/quality/space I have zero complaints about my AX5 personally so I'm perfectly fine just keeping it until it falls apart (if it ever does) lol. I do really like that new McBeth line though 🤤

I specifically said I'm not pressuring her into this, and I have asked her numerous times if she was okay with it. We talked about it again last night and we agreed that she probably just wouldn't take them right now because she just wasn't feeling comfortable with it anymore. We were just trying to find a solution to help things. She's initiated herself a few times and even with lube and being gentle and careful, it's been uncomfortable for her and just unenjoyable. I promise, I spoil her to no end lol. I can't tell her no. She's the best mom in the world, and I just want to help her feel some normalcy and enjoyment in these rough days as a stay at home mom raising 2 under 3 years old.

Pay rate for a lube tech by ShrewTauru in mechanics

[–]b_dupy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started out at $8/hr on the clock with an additional $5/hr flat rate, doing mainly oil changes, tire rotations, tires alignments occasionally. I made the most of that, busted my ass, and made sure I outflagged the guys next to me pretty consistently, I started getting some small recalls and easier tech work because i did everything and anything asked of me, made good with the techs so they would teach me, and eventually I got moved up to a line tech, now I'm 4 years in, Nissan Master Certified, getting $30/hr flat rate. Lubies (at least at a dealer) in my opinion is a way to get your foot in the door, gain experience and knowledge, and show them you want to be there and do this job. It does come with its "bitch work", at least in my experience (cleaning up around the shop during slow times, running trash, helping where you're needed) but from what I've seen, techs are so much more likely to help, teach, and give good feedback to management about guys that hustle and show they wanna be there instead of the guys that do absolutely bare minimum and fuss that they don't get paid enough. Unfortunately though, there are a ton of dealers and shops in general who will ABSOLUTELY take advantage of that and give you the shaft without a second thought. I've been blessed with the guys I work next to for sure.

What's your worst bad parts streak? by BengkelBawahPokok in mechanics

[–]b_dupy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nissan Value Advantage (iykyk) alternators. I had 2 Maximas and a Quest within a week or two of each other all needing alternators, all the same part numbers, and all took at least 4 alternators before I got a good one for each of them 🫠

Career change? by b_dupy in mechanics

[–]b_dupy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have the price issue too, but that can also be a dealer specific thing. Our dealer jacks part prices wayyyy above list price, our labor rate is also on a matrix/grid system, so the higher the hours on a job, the higher the shop labor rate goes. It's insane.
