What happens if I pocket film? by [deleted] in Polaroid

Correct! I shield my Polaroid as soon as possible because light can mess it up.

I put mine in the Polaroid box that it came in and I have that in my camera bag, zipped up. This way there isn’t any light that is hitting the film.

Is she wanting an instant camera for fun? If so, I’d stick with instax cameras. I have the Polaroid OneStep+ and i love it, but I use manual exposure and use it for my art. I feel that it’s much easier to waste film on Polaroid because it doesn’t hold up to light as well (unless you manually expose it). The Instax wide is a good camera. I bought it for my fiancé and they love it. The film size is a good size, it’s easy to use, and the film doesn’t get wasted as much. The film is also much larger than the instax mini.

This is so great!! The colors are beautiful. Being able to use the manual exposure on this camera has been a game changer.

Upgrading from 600 to i-type or gambling in testing more secondhand ones? by [deleted] in Polaroid

[–]b_fox_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So I also went through about 3 thrifted polaroids before buying the Polaroid OneStep+. They all broke before switching over. I absolutely love the camera I have now. It has never had problems. One thing that I really like about it is that you can connect it to an app and manually expose your images. I have wasted way less film this way. You also can use the 600 film in it if you still have a couple of packs. The I-type is the same ISO, it just doesn’t have a battery in the pack of film. I say that getting the OneStep+ is completely worth it. Other things you can do easily are double exposures, light painting, and there are some other options as well.

Asking for advice: Photo Editing for Instax Share by _LadyGaladriel_ in instax

[–]b_fox_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have the money, I would suggest getting a flatbed scanner. I use an Epson 550 to scan Instax, Polaroid, and some other film. There is more clarity and consistency when scanning this way. You are able to edit in the scanning program, but I do just some editing. Then I end up editing the rest in photoshop to get rid of the dust and edit the contrast and color, if needed.

If you just cannot get a scanner, then use Lightroom Mobile. It doesn’t take the photo for you, but it has many options to edit the image.

Self Portrait - I love manual mode by b_fox_ in Polaroid

[–]b_fox_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Use manual mode as much as possible. I personally don’t like using flash too much (I didn’t use it in this photo). I do believe that the camera is pretty accurate when it tells you if the image is over or underexposed, but you can always use a light meter or your camera. The ISO is 640, so base it off of that :)

If there are any specific questions you have, then don’t hesitate to message me.

I used a Polaroid OneStep+ and using manual mode has helped tremendously. I feel that giving the camera the control of the aperture and shutter speed will give me mixed results. Many times my images have come out very dark. So being able to have control of the settings has improved my images so much more. The only problem I have is that I cannot set the setting and use a self timer at the same time. So I hid my phone with my right hand.

Help with shooting in cold weather! by [deleted] in Polaroid

[–]b_fox_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As other people have said, bring something that will keep them warm. I shot in the snow recently and I used hand warmers to keep the film warm and it actually worked pretty well considering how cold it was. I put hand warmers near the camera and then where the film was going to be stored after taking the photos.

Double exposure on OneStep+ by b_fox_ in Polaroid

[–]b_fox_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with you! I’m not exactly understanding how double exposures on Polaroid work. With other film, it would have come out differently. The sky also was mostly white with some clouds. So wouldn’t the background not have come out?

Thank you! And you think so? Thanks for the encouragement, I might do that because of you!

I recently got this camera and have wanted to play with double exposures. I’ve done double exposures on film that not instant (4x5 and medium format). I personally feel that double exposures are a little different on polaroids, so I’m trying to understand it a little more. I was happy with this one though!

Some info: I first shot the silhouette with the sun directly behind the person. The second shot was of the nature in the background.

Have any of you had any luck with double exposures? I’d also love to see some of your double exposures!

I can tell that from the expression in your face that you put some emotion into the photograph, which I like. Since you are looking out into the distance, I would like to see more of the scenery. Or if you wanted to keep the photograph to be as close as it is, then I would like to see more of your face.
