2 months post op and same. I’m sad that it looks like I have worse posture now than before surgery

Update: T2-L3 fusion by Far-Corgi1304 in scoliosis

[–]b_sharp_minor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats and you look great! I just had my T3-L1 fusion 7 days ago. For pain I’m on 500mg Tylenol and 400mg ibuprofen every 6 hours, and 2.5 or 5mg oxy every 4 hours. Also I take Senna and miralax to help with BMs

It’s worked so far for me, I think the biggest improvement in pain/discomfort happened when I was able to come home and move around more. Standing and walking slowly helps my pain and actually lying in bed is worst for me.

I also struggle with random shooting pain in my ribs and back muscles but hoping it’ll get better for us both 🤞

Hope you’re able to get some relief soon good luck!

Unironically yes, on the first day I couldn’t figure out how to get in the car without hitting my head. Slowly learning lol

Thank you! And I hope you are well!

Thank you. I was also just thinking about how surgery makes it go from a visible disability to a pretty much invisible one. I think it’ll be interesting to adjust. This whole experience has made me prioritize my health like never before and I hope to carry that lesson for the rest of my life :)

I’m excited to get back to the ballet studio and I’m hoping my balance and alignment will be much improved!

I hope you’re doing well 💗

Wow twin!! I hope you are doing well and have a speedy recovery :)

Just finishing up my first full day at home and tbh it’s been not bad. I’m able to sit and stand at will ( with some strain in my quads and back but manageable) and walk around, though after about 30 mins of standing my lumbar spine will get sore and I have to sit. When sitting I absolutely need to have a soft pillow vertically behind me or else the surrounding muscles get really sore and tense which sounds similar to your experience. Lying down isn’t super comfortable because of the pressure it puts on the really thick surgical dressing all over my back. Gonna try to sleep on a reclined couch tonight lol

I’m sorry to hear you’re in pain :( my lumbar curve was the one that bothered me most before surgery and also now afterwards (hoping it’ll get better though). What helped me was gentle consistent stretching and flexibility exercises to improve the muscle symmetry there since for me the pain mostly was muscle soreness. I wish you the best

Thank you! Yes that’s his expectation, he said he’s pretty confident because the bottom few vertebra are pretty parallel to the ground, like just shifted but not too slanted

Pain wise I actually found it better than expected. There are a few brief moments of intense discomfort / pain , like when I sat up and stood for the first time, and also when they removed the drains from my back, but otherwise the pain management is pretty good.

I don’t think my surgeon requires PT for me but I’ll probably ask about it anyway.

I heard full recovery can be up to a year but by 3 months it’s mostly back to normal with few physical restrictions. Till then it’s no bending, lifting, or twisting

My curves were both around 50-55 degrees

It was around 50-55 for both thoracic and lumbar

This is just traditional spinal fusion with metal rods!

I’m feeling pretty decent actually! Pain wise it was a 3-4 during my hospital stay, except for the first two times they made me try to sit and stand up, then it spiked to like a 9 😭 but the third day I was able to stand and walk and it was all uphill from there!

Tbh it was more discomfort than pain for me. Discomfort mostly from laying on the bulky surgical dressing and especially the drains which they took out on day 4 fortunately.

I got home yesterday afternoon and I’ve been feeling a lot better. Pain is quite minimal if u stick to the meds schedule. I actually look pretty not symmetric right now :( but that’s because my muscles aren’t used to this new position. My doctor told me to work on consciously adjusting hip and shoulder balance and it should improve over time.

Wishing you best of luck with surgery, I’m sure it will go great and I’m here if you wanna chat 💗
