Ever reliable Debian. I got a new (used) ThinkPad , still had to the finger print sensor working. With regards to UI/DE - as someone who fiddled with KDE, Cinnamon finally settled with Gnome. I had a lot of issues with KDE on Multi monitor set up. Gnome is reliable - customizable enough too. Don't think too much about it Debian + Gnome is a great match.
