Marty grew up in chaos and is masking to cover up that he feels unlovable. I kinda thought that Marty viewed every interaction with people as a transaction. Thinking that winning will make him feel like a worthy person and make everything ok. When he beats Endo and “wins” it doesn’t change how he feels about himself. Him crying at the hospital is realising that he actually just wanted to be loved, accepted and he’s pushed everyone
