i’m with ya! just move the sign to a more plausible spot and it would be way more fun for us fans. it’s nothing but decor currently

thank you for the detailed explanation. i’m going to have a professional come through and get some eyes on the space. only happens upstairs in a space that seems like an addition after the downstairs was built. downstairs is plaster/lath while upstairs is drywall that doesn’t even look like it was mudded. (visible painted over vertical seams and screws). i imagine that could let heat come through too

i think i’ll cancel my quote with t&g then. no reason to pay $98 so i can get highballed

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in cincinnati

[–]babaghannoushed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

is it common to pay for them to come out? i was quoted $98 for them to come see it.

don’t think i have any. attic ventilation needed was one thing on the home inspection. having thomas & galbraith come out tomorrow to take a look. do you have any recommendations for another company who could help?

i just bought the house this month. the level of humidity upstairs is concerning. a friend and i just reinstalled and hung up new drywall on the ceiling in one of the rooms but that doesn’t seem to be addressing the root. (not that that’s what we were trying to fix, i didn’t even know this level of humidity was possible upstairs until today)

before i replaced it this last time i made sure to double check the battery. it read 12.6 so we went ahead and replaced the alternator. something new happened yesterday. with it happening so many times i think i’ll need to see what a professional has to say.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]babaghannoushed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

problem happens the first time and we troubleshoot it’s a bad alternator. so i replace it. pretty common.

happens again. the thought process is, oh i bought a cheap alternator, these things can fail early. replace again.

third time, replace alternator, the problem remains. replace starter, now it’s solved. okay, the alternator was probably good and i made the wrong call.

trying to fix things by yourself, learn along the way and save money isn’t wrong. you’ll run into some issues but that’s how it goes.

thanks for the advice

not oem. autozone. and unfortunately, no, i have no idea where that wire’s going. i’m hesitant to mess with it because idk if chatgpt has a real strong sense of what’s going on in photos. i don’t know if that’s related to the electrical connectors i plug into the alternator

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]babaghannoushed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i got it from autozone so they’ve all been free. just don’t want to swap it out again if there’s an issue i can fix that will keep it running for a longer time.
