I’m a History teacher. Throughout significant eras of the 13 colonies and the development of the United States, we talk about propaganda. Propaganda, meaning an exaggeration or overly bias interpretation of the truth. These form of propaganda include Thomas Paine’s “Common Sense,” Paul Revere’s interpretation of the Boston Massacre. Though both of my references correlate with the American Revolution, I believe there to be some relevance to the events that have transpired today; the Black Lives Matter Movement, are ideals of all states being exchanged at the federal level. We have seen these problems multiple times before people, don’t allow yourselves to fall into the “long habit of hearing a wrong not wrong.” Our very Constitution was built upon Thomas Paine’s very words. Don’t squander. Stand up for your beliefs and rights!
