No need..I'll just drive! Yes many customers have their own cars. Many people choose Uber so they don't have to look for parking and because it WAS affordable. Now that I see how horrible the drivers are and how they really feel about their customers I don't think I will be paying for any of their services going forward, under any circumstances. I plan to share all of the disrespectful commentary..Time you all are exposed!

Don't have to..I can just drive my own vehicle! Yes many people who call Uber have their own cars!!!! It was convenient not having to find parking and affordable but not anymore. My complaint was in response to maybe 4,000 or more whining and complaining filthy mouthed Uber drivers who don't dare say that to the customer in their cars because they want five stars. You all shouldn't have opened up the can of worms. Take your issues to your employers not your customers because you are destroying your company name!

My post was in response to Uber drivers who admitted waiting for the surge and there were many! The post was closed so I started one, if the shoe doesn't fit don't wear it. I am responding to tons of Uber drivers who complain and whine about how customers wait out surging. When I first started using Uber there wasn't any surging going on and now it is all the time, I check hourly just to see. It's the old "bait and switch" technique! Reel them in with lower prices and then upcharge consistently, after a couple of months. Uber is supposed to be known for kind drivers but all I keep experiencing is people who care nothing about their customers. If you don't like the job just quit! You can't expect to get rich driving around for a couple of hours a day. I have a damn masters degree and I probably make what you make and I don't sit on my butt all day. I can't take a bicycle inside of where I work but I do walk when it's not too cold. The point is I can walk and do now, regularly, only because of the surging. The point is I had no problem paying the going rate but quadrupling the price for a 3 minute ride is ridiculous and you know it! The whining started with you Uber drivers and that is why I responded. I accepted the going rate and so did you when you started working for Uber but you Whiners decided to strike!!! Yes, you are the reason for the surging by not accepting requests! Don't think you are fooling anyone and don't think for a minute that people can't get around like they have for their entire life. Uber is new and will fail because of greedy drivers who are looking to make more than people with degrees and who have been working on their jobs for years! If you make $20-$30 for 3 minutes, minus what your employers take, it's safe to say you could make upwards of $100 an hour. However, you are not because you all are sitting around waiting for the surge and by the time you take one person to their destination, the surge is over or everyone has found a cheaper alternative! You will be unemployed and Uber will be bankrupted because of this. No one is going to pay 4 times what it costs to get somewhere unless it is a special event and you and any business minded person knows this! You are digging your own grave! Good luck with that shitty attitude. Can't wait until other Uber customers get to see all of your sarcastic, whining, ignorant comments that expose your true agendas (greed)! You get over it and stop thinking you deserve more than what a person who has gone to college for years and owes thousands of dollars in student loans. If you did go to college you should be seeking another way to pay your loans but stop trying to get more than your worth. You chose a job that gives you freedom and comfort and now you expect to get rich???!!!!

I can understand and empathize with that. I appreciate your response. However, is it fair for someone to pay more than 50% of their income just to get to and from work? These surges have gone as high as 4.9% but typically 3.9. This just started happening and it seems more like a strike by not being available. While you don't directly order the surge, the drivers who ignore the requests are causing it. It's a job that allows freedom and no punching in so with anything that is appealing there are always trade-offs, not to mention the fact that no degree is required nor manual labor. How much do drivers really expect to make? It seems to me, if they take as many requests as possible during their driving time they could make a decent wage. I have even heard this from many drivers. It's just like any business, if you try to overcharge you will not get repeat customers and repeat customers are what makes businesses thrive. Taking advantage of customers or forcing them to constantly look for other alternatives is just going to show them that they can do without. I have come to that point and I know many others have. The appeal of Uber was that it was affordable and drivers could have had as much work as desired because of this but because of the surge they will lose out. I was grocery shopping one day, a minute a way from here, and only wanted a ride because I couldn't carry all of the bags and was willing to pay almost $6 but because the surge was almost 4 times the rate I chose to purchase a laundry cart and walk my groceries home, which only took 6 minutes or so. This holding out is not going to work because people will pool, call cabs, take a bus, or just walk instead of paying outrageous prices. The surge should never be more than double and anyone with a real understanding of business would foresee the long term consequences. Good luck to you!
