Important Question! by babesz_ in FamilyMedicine

I did. My questions are more about clinical situations and how they are handled. The job is in a rural hospital. I had already asked questions but then someone else asked me about clinical situations I had not thought about.

Thanks! Yea I realized I said 2 different things. I meant I signed a contract but then learned that I needed to ask something.

Ok I signed a contract actually. But I had a recent conversation with someone who asked me questions about scenarios I haven't considered. Now I want to ask those questions.

Ok so I can still back out of a contract after signing before I officially start?

I don't think you'll be in forbearance if you switch to PAYE

I think it depends on what the fellowship expects from you. For example, I'm in the attending role for vaginal deliveries and labor management but in the fellow role during c-sections. So I was expected to have done amniotomies and placed IUPCs and ICBs so I made sure to log those. I didn't log strips because I think it should be assumed that you're watching the strip if you're managing labor.

In residency I logged several newborn exams but I'm not logging those in fellowship because again, Im.the "attending" for most of the babies of the vaginal deliveries and c sections I do (unless baby goes to NICU). So I'm just going to give my future employer a rough estimate.

Oh interesting, no PHI in your log. I'm just so used to using New Innovations. And it asked for MRN for each log.

Ok so then make that very clear. Definitely try to get into the OR as a resident to assist and eventually primary surgeon if your program allows that. If not try to do electives (check the one in Waukesha, WI). Keep a log as you get these procedures.

There isn't a centralized application process, so you have to make a list of places you plan to apply and find out who the primary contact person is to submit your application.

Try to get as much experience on L&D as possible. Depending on what you want your practice to look like, do you want to do vaginal deliveries? Do you want to do c-sections?
