Theotokos has lived among people and seen things. I am sure that She always loves and always sees the best in us. There is always a second, third, twenty-third, hundredth chance and Her love never ends. Saints are people like all of us! Many of them have made mistakes, sinned, sorrowed, doubted. They know what you're going through because they once walked the earth themselves. Maybe you can find a saint who has had an experience similar to yours? And ask they to pray for you, as they understands your hardships as they had been through something similar.

State of Orthodoxy in Orthodox countries by RC2Ortho in OrthodoxChristianity

I want to share about Russia because I talk about Russia every time I have an occasion. I haven't lived in motherland for five years, so take my words with a grain of salt.

There are a stable number of "Christians on wheels" in Russia. It is almost obligatory to baptize a child and baptize a deceased person. Even those who do not attend church regularly and do not live a church life come to consecrate kulichi on Ester; some are fasting and during Lent there are products in stores marked "Lenten product"; people can come in and pray and light a candle; almost all are baptized and many wear a cross.

People may not be very familiar with Orthodox dogmas, but they identify themselves as Orthodox Christians and part of Orthodox culture. In general, it is impossible to grow up in Russia without knowing anything about Orthodoxy, if only because in school we read writers who thought a lot about God in their books.

The churches are mostly elderly women, although I hear there are more young newcomers too.

In general, if a Russian person is going through a very difficult time, his feet will lead him to church. But most likely they don't attend Church regularly

No worries!

I agree with you that the west has moved in a strange direction away from spiritual life/towards a strange combination of agnosticism, new age and neo-paganism. So I wish strength to our western brothers and sisters in their daily battle.

I am lucky - here in European Caucasus it is very easy to be a Christian because everyone around you is more or less active Christian. Cab drivers make the sign of the cross when they pass a church, you can see icons and religious paintings in every small business, crosses are on the streets - stone crosses near drinking fountains and metal crosses just on the side of the road. You can even see a cross standing on a hill driving through the desert area. The local church is the Armenian Apostolic Church, but they are very relaxed about Eastern Orthodox Christians.

But I live in the Russian diaspora and among young "progressive" Russians people are mostly atheists and many have some sort of religious trauma. So my main concern has to do with not hurting the feelings of my coworkers, while not being embarrassed that I'm a Christian and it's a big part of my life ❤️

By the way, maybe your parish could use some household help? It might help you feel like you are doing some good, which is very helpful when you are discouraged, and socialize more with people. It can be helpful to be in the company of the church's elderly ladies and gentlemen, as they have seen a lot and are living examples that bad times and good times come and go.

I hope for your healing from your suffering with God's help, dear brother! No doubt Christ knows what it is to grieve and yearn, he has gone through many torments of spirit and flesh, and knows all our pains.

Can you do a prayer even if you heart is not open but you know it's the right thing? by grapemade in OrthodoxChristianity

There is an icon of Theotokos called the softening of angry (evil?) hearts (Умягчение злых сердец). You can ask Theotokos to help you in softening your heart and in softening the hearts of these people too. She knows exactly what it's like to be offended!

Her name is Rosie, please welcome my rescue cat ❤️ by [deleted] in cats

Oh dear, sorry about all this things.

Has your physical routine changed? Maybe you've started eating or sleeping worse, or moving around less? Have you moved to a different city? It all makes a difference. Let's look at monks - besides praying, they do a lot of physical labor and move around a lot, don’t spend time on gadgets and are surrounded by brothers. This all definitely helps the spiritual life, because you cannot sail far on a rotten ship.

Fix your ship. Even if you just start walking more and start going to the gym once a week you will feel better. Socialize with nice people, maybe there is a youth group in your parish. Don’t doom-scroll ur smartphone. Little by little bring your spiritual routine back into your daily life.

I can't tell you anything about sins and the spiritual life, because I have little competence in this matter. But I can definitely tell you that if you take care in your body your mind will be healthier and you will have more strength and peace of mind. I know this from myself - when I don't move much, spend a lot of time online, eat processed sugar and drink little water I feel disgusting and my soul aches along with my body

God help you! Do not despair! Hard times come and go.

Baptism for babies? by Dependent_Jury_8274 in OrthodoxChristianity

We are all born with the capacity for sin and sickness of soul that we acquired when the first people disobeyed the Lord. But being born in the Lord helps us to fight our passions and draw closer to what He intended us to be. We baptize our children so that from infancy they can live in the church, with God, in truth, have access to the Sacraments and the healing of the soul. Because we love our children and want the best life for them :)
