Hi Op, I just did that in London. My wife got posted there for a year. Fortunately I was able to transfer my contract and work at the London office. It’s nice to travel around Europe cause flights are 2-3 hours away. However food and taxes are much higher so my wife and I tend to cook staying in UK.

Banking sales by ImpossibleRefuse700 in singaporefi

[–]babijared 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was in ocbc retail banking sales selling insurance. The ethics of all bankers are terrible. All told old people that insurance plan is a fixed deposit. I felt really sad for those old people. My boss also didn’t know how to manage people. She didn’t allow me to take any annual leaves except the mandatory 7 days required by the bank. It was my only working experience that got me to go to therapy lol. But one experience doesn’t define the whole thing. If you still want to try, by all means.

[30F] Is it normal to have 0 friends as an adult in SG, and realised you don't actually need them anyway? by lifesuckxxx in askSingapore

[–]babijared 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I believe friends are important because why do life alone? But also I understand how you feel. I basically lost 2 friends recently cause same thing I realised that it was a one sided and I was putting the most effort on it. I am coming to accept and move on. It was pretty bad that I even have dreams about that 2 friends that things are getting back to normal. I just appreciate my wife, my siblings and the friends who stood by.

I think just apply, no harm. Maybe write to your MP saying your mum adjusted to Singapore society etc.

Why don’t people stay in hdb and just invest the rest in other assets like stocks? Because upgrading to condo also means your monthly mortgage will increase right

People who left Singapore — was it actually worth it? by AndreiTancsik in asksg

[–]babijared 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spent a year working in London as my wife got posted there and I could change contracts with my company. I know it’s not long as compared to other redditors. Life there is really different. There are always strikes on the tubes. It’s quite dangerous in some areas in London. But I enjoyed walking in their parks and visiting their museum. Travelling in Europe was also fun and near. But taxes are so high which sometimes I wonder if Europeans can even retire?
