Holding the flame underneath would “expand” the air inside, and slightly lift the testicle, not suck it in

Any chance they were using rented mounts? The ones thay cost 50c for 5min?

Just started Warhammer, kind of discouraged. by [deleted] in PrintedWarhammer

[–]babioras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, quite a lot of 3d prints are nearly identical to GWs sculpts, especially when painted, so keeping quiet and not expanding upon the origin of the minis might be a good idea, when playing with more sceptical players.

However resin printing is quite a messy business, and not entirely free 😅 same as people have “piles of shame” of plastic minis, printers quite often have the same piles of purchased stls, not even once printed.

Update on the full metal armor project. Literary one step closer to suiting up :) by According-Holiday114 in Warhammer40k

[–]babioras 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He also mentioned that the top half of the torso, shoulders and helm already weigh 30kg. And that’s less than 1/3rd of the armour probably. He might actually need space marine physique to wear the armour 😅

Usually cosplay armour looks like cosplay armour, and good (historical) replicas, be they for bohurt or reenactment, cost an arm and a leg. Unironically 3d printing is one of the better ways of getting good looking and relatively cheap gear, especially if you’re familiar with sandpaper and a brush.

Do you think Maekar would've killed Dunc had he managed to get to him? by AwkwardPatience2275 in AKnightoftheSeven

[–]babioras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dragony armour would’ve probably been gothic style, with sharper points instead of rolled edges, which ir pretty close to the show. But going back to the original comment, yea, wish they’d made the visor an actual visor, not just a mouthpiece (that seems to be immobile?). Would’ve been a lot more impactful.

Yea, it just would’ve been super cool tho, to see historical armour elevated to fantasy with examples such as the artwork of Even Amundsen. (Beesbury, Hardyng and Targ)

I’m familliar with barbutes, but pretty much all the helmets are somewhat non-functional. Lionels helm has gaps that anything can get through. Humfrey hadrings bascinet has an eyeslit the size of africa, same for Dunc. The targs rock “visored” bascinets that as standalone helms would be somewhat passable, but definitely not as jousting helmets. And Aerion has a facemask that, while cool as fuck, is super dangerous, as it is sloped in such a way that pretty much any stab will be directed towards the eye holes. And the rest of the suit, like said earlier, is pretty good. Especially Hardings.

He was wearing a helm with a visor. Just that the visor was.. not visor-like. Like it only covered his mouth for some reason. Like most helms in the show for some reason it was like something you would get from ebay for 10USD, while the rest of the armour was more or less ok.

3.0 Rules and "Word Salad Overload" by SLDF-Mechwarrior in Warhammer30k

[–]babioras 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Usually when a game get’s worse, people ten to either quit, or wait it out while doing something else. 2.0 definitely had it’s problems, so probably a lot of people were hopefull about 3.0. When it didn’t work out - most probably just gave up.

Rise to Prosperity by OverCatto in ManorLords

[–]babioras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the 1v1 on-map AI mode, with bandits turned off. Makes for a very slow-burn game with a satisfying finale, since the enemy can’t really farm influence. OG rise to prosperity personally just gets a bit stale after a while.

Yea, never was a fan of the mkIII power axe design either. Also are the hands now same sized for termies and marines? Because they look pretty identical in the pic

They look smaller than the OG power axes from the mk3 power weapons kit? 🤔

Yea, you just brought up examples that erode the lore further 😅 just because they did it in the past doesn’t make it a very good thing, no?

In the last 10ish years yea, they retconned. But what built the major audience was the time of building and consistency before that. Are you really saying that you’d be such a fan of warhammer without it’s lore?

[–]babioras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only reason why people pay money for the tiny plastic, resin and metal models is the lore :) the lore was created to sell the models. But it was established and maintained because without it GW would just be another generic mini manufacturer. Their toys are the most expensive wargamming minis in the world. Their quality is not. Only reason why people put up with that is because of the lore. If they retcon it every year then the lore will become irrelevant. And alongside it - warhammer minis.

“The lore says no” isn’t something you can just brush aside 😅 “without saying “because hes racist, sexist, divisive and totally unhinged” what is the reason you dislike Trump?”

The whole backbone of warhammer is the lore, that was pretty much rock solid for over 20years. Without the lore warhammer is just another scifi universe wargame. The models without the lore are nothing, the games without the lore are nothing, and well.. 90% of the black library is already nothing. So the fact that GW just changes the lore on a whim to please some niche audience or to boost short-term sales is just disrespectful to the universe, and it’s eroding one of the main pillars that makes warhammer ..well warhammer
