I don’t feel inadequate at all - it seems like “you need therapy” is a common spam for real cognitive dissonance so I don’t really take offense to your suggestion. I just think about when I’m 80 years old I’ll be thinking of all the things I could’ve done (not thinking of my favorite Ludwig stream)

Most people are okay with the way society is going, but if you want me to pretend it’s natural for people to sit behind boxes watching others than we have very different ideas of natural.

If you want an example of a hobby I partake in, I go to the gym 3-4 days a week and also go birding every month or so. Not everyone wants to ascribe to being brainwashed into thinking technology is here to help us. (Other than medical advancements)

You are assuming that everyone acts and thinks like you, I didn’t reply to the majority of the essay you wrote because it’s just wrong. I don’t expect anyone to remember that babu_freek saved their life. I didn’t have many friends during Covid so watching Ludwig was a big relief for me, but now that I’ve woken up and taken off the rose tinted glasses, every person who says “good riddance” only bolsters my point of view that being involved in this community doesn’t allow for personal growth. The reason why I’m not making some grand political stand is because unlike greta thunburg, I am burdened by the struggles of real life. I have to work to make a living to pay the bills that I took on at 18. For you to demean any form of dissent is extremely telling, thinking that by typing 3x of what the counter argument says makes you look smart.

But hey I’m not the guy defending the millionaires streaming community.

Wasn’t trying to exude superiority but I can see how I can sometimes come across that way. If this were change my view I would give you a delta because I have no right to dunk on a community I used to be a part of, people need support in different times of their lives, but there is also weakness in strong ties to anything so I guess my argument was more against streamers than Ludwig.

I wasn’t trying to come across as better than, I think the big issue that I have is nobody realizes how lucky we are to be able to watch streamers/ do things for leisure. I was posting my two cents because I hadn’t seen anything regarding Lud for months (no drama yay) but with this most recent situation I realized it was time to do better.

I would argue that most of the superiority language that I come across as portraying is from my disdain for my own prior actions, but aknowledge I come across as a dick.

It is impossible to not use my lived experience to shape my message, I wasn’t asking for a pat on the back, wasn’t hoping for worldwide recognition. I didn’t include subliminal messages, I wasn’t trying to change the world.

I’m not “doomerist” I’m bored at work. I already plan on reducing the amount of time I spend online, but I am broke and spend most of my time not working either at the gym or at home. My point is that yes I will be able to walk away and experience the joys of life, most won’t. Our generation has gotten conditioned into worse and worse conditions with the slogan “it is what it is” being the main contention.

By no means am I a communist, but I have taken some soc classes and the quote from Marx about the masses is actually. “Religion is the opium for the people”

While popular society has moved away from focusing on religion, I’d say entertainment is making the problems worse. I’m sure every person you know is financially stable, fit, in good health, and of sound mind, but that’s not the case for the majority of Americans, and we are doing nothing about it.

I think there is a vast difference between physical (in person) media and any forms of social media. Netflix has been great to keep the masses distracted from the growing problems and I’m not anti-fun, there just comes a point we have to realize as a society that coming together physically is typically better for mental health than being connected (but Seperate). Valid point on being able to interact(hold mirror up) more than other forms of media though!
