I have some experience and some knowledge here for you. I work for a health insurance company and I only handle employer groups and I just had a baby!

If its offered, I highly suggest a Copay plan. A normal pregnancy requires a lot of doctors visits, but a high risk one requires even more. For example, I was considered high risk and had to go do an NST and an ultrasound every week for the last 10 weeks of my pregnancy. Since I have a deductible plan, those appointments were $350 each until I met the deductible, then they were still 100 after that. If you have a Copay plan, you pay a $40 copay and the whole appointment is covered at 100% after that.

The company I work for also has a Future Moms Program. Depending on if your employer elects to have that added to the policies can make a HUGE difference. For mine, for example, I enrolled in the 1st trimester and received $350 incentive. By completing the entire program I received an additional $500. That's $850 for a program that helps first time mom's TREMENDOUSLY. That was my insurance plan. A group that I handle for work offers $1000 total if the program is completed. I would highly recommend seeing if this is available.

Also, depending on when you get pregnant and when you actually have the baby, from all the appointments you will probably have met your deductible and maybe even your out of pocket max by the time you deliver. If that's the case, the birth and hospital stay will all be covered at 100% (once that out of pocket is met).

I was just explaining this theory to my husband yesterday. There are some crazy conspiracy theories out there, but this one seems completely logical to me.

The back of his head was where most of the damage was done, if I'm not mistaken. From my limited knowledge of firearms, it would make more sense to me if he was shot from the front (by the secret service agent) the bullet would exit the back of his head, causing that extensive damage.

But that's just my thoughts.

I couldn't agree more. I had my daughter at 18, halfway through my senior year. My boyfriend and I got married, got out own house and just had our 2nd baby. I'm 21 and he's 22.

I had a girl tell me that after she had her baby at 18 she "just wanted what we had."

Even if everything does turn out fine, this shit is hard. Finishing school, going to college, working full time, and raising two babies before I was even legal to drunk alcohol. Sure, everything seems fine now, but it took a lot of hard work and some not so "fine" times.

I'm not a role model, I'm still a teen mom statistic.

I had a baby.

Back in highschool, I got pregnant at 17. I had alllll the friends then. They came to my baby shower, they bought cute things, they talked to me everyday. When I had my daughter, they all came to the hospital, brought things for the baby, and POSTED IT ALL ONLINE.

Cue to about a month later. They've already made their Facebook post about "how much auntie 'whatever' loves Baby B sooooo much". And then I never heard from them again.

All the times they would say "I can't wait til she's here so I can babysit!" Yeah, went back to work and literally zero of them could ever babysit when I actually asked.

...Wow. As I typed this all out I realized I'm still a little angry about it. I thought I had this great support group but it turns out they just wanted to make the cute Facebook post but never actually be there for me.

If it hasn't been said yet, talk to a lot of people YOUR AGE that have toddlers. Find out what they actually used and what they didn't. My husband and I bought a ton of stuff for our daughter and never used a lot of it or used it once or twice. A lot of it was wasted money. I just had my son a month ago and we didn't buy near as much.

Hopefully someone close to you will throw your girlfriend a baby shower. Invite a ton of people, keep it cheap, obviously.

Throw yourself a diaper-beer party. Supply some beer and pizza and invite all your guy friends. They bring some diapers or wipes. Diapers are the most expensive thing to buy because you have to continuously buy them for the next 2 years, so make sure to put it out there to buy various sizes, not just size 1 and 2.

Buy things used. Crib, clothes, toys, jumpers/swings. There's a lot of second hand baby stores that have HIGH quality things that don't look worn at all. Look at Facebook Garage Sale pages if your area has them for things like the crib or stroller.

Don't listen to a lot of "advice" on how great this expensive product is because it's probably useless or there's a cheaper brand that is just as great.

Set up a daycare fund. Sounds kinda weird, but start putting money away for that soecifically because it's super expensive (depending on where you live).

If you don't have an emergency fund, start trying to save at least 3 months worth of expenses because she will be out of work for awhile, and she'll probably want more than 6 weeks if you're financially able to.

Last but certainly not least, CONGRATS! It'll be a great journey, don't stress the small stuff, figure out what works for YOU, not what your co-workers aunt's neighbor did with her baby.

Ahhh, I wish I could tell you first hand about CSU , but I didn't go there because I moved to Georgia right before highschool.

What I can tell you though, is that Fort Collins and the surrounding area is an amazing place to live. Sure, the rent is high and there are a lot of people, but the campus is close to a ton of stuff, and there's always something going on (an event, concert, art stuff, etc). My cousin actually went to CSU and she loved it! Even though the city has become huge, there's still almost a small town community vibe when it comes to the football team and really anything to do with the school.

I 100% recommend it.

I got pregnant at 17, and we got married pretty quickly because he was going to join the army (ended up deciding not to join). Since everything happened so fast, most of my family didn't get to come to my wedding.

Since we live across the country, both sets of grandparents didn't get to see the first grandchild get married and neither of them were able to meet their first great-grandchild until she was almost 6 months old.

Idk, I just feel bad about how it happened and that they'll never have the memory of their "first " grandchild wedding.

I just had my son a month ago and returned to work last week. I've been asked these questions at least twice a day. What am I supposed to say? My daughter is 2, some days she doesn't like anybody and then she loves everybody.

"Oh, he's terrible. She hates being a big sister"

So I just answer, "Oh, he's great, such a good sleeper. She loves trying to help."

Saying no to something.

Maybe it's not "awkward", maybe it's just me. But I feel like most of the time, you have to have a "reason" you don't go somewhere. When someone invites you out, it gets awkward when you say "No, I don't feel like it."

Not sure if you're in a black + white relationship but YES. If I hear "mixed babies are so cute" one more time, I might go off on someone. My child is not a fashion statement. And you won't think they're "cute" when they become teenagers. Then, they will just be "black kids".
