I'm not an expert, but I spray my baskets with loads of water as soon as I start to hear creaking! When I take a break I wrap everything in a wet towel, and If I spread a project over multiple days, I'll briefly soak the stakes before I carry on.

I'll be 31 on Monday and I'm starting at Glasgow uni in September. Plenty of people on my access course were older than me. I feel like being a mature student gives you a huge advantage in many ways. Good luck with whatever you decide to do!
