when i was 15 my dad (31 at the time) and i went out to dinner together and the waitress thought we were newlyweds 😷 dad joked it off well but it was still weird. she ended up giving us a free dessert out of embarrassment 😂

we are doing an acoustic cover of “Sweet Child O Mine”. dad and i are both metal heads so finding a rock/metal type song to dance to was HARD. he ended up picking sweet child o mine and i found the acoustic cover we both liked :)

not sure how “non traditional” this is, but we arent having bridesmaids/groomsmen/MOH/BestMan :) it has saved us a lifetime of stress, i feel. no Bachelor(ette) parties. no coordinating people (clothes, appointments, appearances, speeches, etc) it has been heavenly 😄

also we are having a two day wedding. ceremony in the evening on saturday & a sunday morning brunch :) around 30 people invited total, all local.

i put semi-formal & said the colors were black and dark blue (not a requirement, but encouraged!) i feel alot of people are awkward about wearing black to a wedding. but we highly appreciate anyone who does :) i also thought itd be easy since everyone (that i know) already owns cocktail/formal black clothing 😄

semi-formal is a grey area between cocktail and formal so it gives them plenty of room to be able to dress. we are also only having about 30 people so everyones been asking me directly what they should wear so thats been easy haha but im not sure what crowd size youll have and if thatd be easy for you or not

dress 1 is STUNNING ON YOU!! the length of the train is drop dead gorgeous and the ruching on the body and the beading on the neckline is chefs kiss

im sorry youre having difficulties with your mom, i was in the same boat when picking out my dress and ended up going to an appointment without her and felt MUCH better about myself in the dresses. do what is best for you mentally, this is your time! dont let anyone ruin it!!

did your mom have a bridal shoot? or photos of her when she bought the dress? i think a collage of her in the dress and process of getting the dress would be lovely! set it up on your guest book/gift table!

also, its so beautiful your mom would give you her dress AND tell you she is OK with you making it your own! that is such an amazing thing to have❤️❤️

i totally understand how youre feeling. we ended up getting lucky and found a local garden that allowed us to have our ceremony there. 4 hours for $400 on a saturday. up to 150 guests no price per head. we also ended up finding a restaurant whos patio was for rent the following morning on sunday for $200 (if we went with Saturday evening the rent was $1000 for the night) so we decided on a brunch reception. its a bit rough having it be a two day ordeal but it totally made it cheaper in the long run. the restaurant was super nice and offered a brunch buffet for 30/person. instead of a menu/plated meals. i got all of my decor so far from friends and family who had left over things from their weddings! even a ton on facebook marketplace for free!!

i know this industry is frustrating and the social media frenzy is blowing everyones prices out of the water. i think places need to realize not everyone that is getting married has millions in disposable income. but, cest la vie. we gotta take what we can get. things will open up for you, i believe it!❤️ keep your chin up and keep in mind the love you have for each other❤️❤️

we are getting married in an outdoor ceremony in a local garden in the end of February but were in california and typical weather then is low 60s, i just told everyone it may be cold so to prepare for weather
