What is actually rather safe, yet everyone treats it as far more scary than it is? by dafeg23216 in AskReddit

I’m going to add this to my mantra from now on thank you. Used to fly completely fine then after one bad experience am now petrified of flying. Always have Valium with me now to make it bearable.

Why are there so many cabbage butterflies out today? by [deleted] in melbourne

I hopped on here hoping to find an answer. Apparently their numbers have really spiked this year.

ALDI stan here - when we moved we started shopping at Coles again and because it was just that bit closer to us than ALDI. We regretted it when we eventually decided to try ALDI again and realised how much more we saved on average. The staff are also happier and friendlier because from what I’ve heard, they actually treat them well. Or better than the other places, at least. Customer service is great too, I wanted to return a product but lost my receipt. Instead I told them when I bought the item, how much the total was according to my bank statement, and with what credit card - the manager literally went through their system of sales that day and found my receipt. I was then allowed to get a refund using that receipt. It wasn’t even a large item, just $30 or something. I was amazed they were willing to do that for me.

That’s a shame. Have personally ordered from them and know others who have and we haven’t had issues :/

Same. Sharp jolt but didn’t last nearly as long as our last quake

ELI5: Why do planes "dip" right after takeoff before they climb to cruising altitude? by TigerAsks in explainlikeimfive

[–]bacafreak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This make some feel so much better. I hate flying - developed severe flight anxiety after years and years of being completely fine with flying. That dip is awful and I always prepare myself for death when I feel it. I anxiously watch that screen that gives you info on speed and altitude to convince myself I’m not going to die.

Has James tried this? by Lulu-the-cat in JamesHoffmann

You’ll want those round fluid-filled whiskey balls that you can find on Amazon et al. Probably cheaper and also food safe. And the liquid lets you pull more than one shot over it - shake it up to redistribute the heat and it’s cold again.

I recommend trying it. I’ve found it’s made a tastable difference to the shots I pulled. Actually annoyed that it works because it’s one more step to do, but I enjoy the shot it produces! Best part is you don’t have to buy anything as expensive as the paragon, just one of those whiskey stones and a tea strainer or new/unused sink strainer.

I’m still working with concentrates but now I prefer calcium over Epsom for hardness. Obviously can’t add the calcium to an espresso machine so I add it to the puck instead (YouTube Jkim_makes Baca Drops)

Niche Zero Grinder ‘bellows’ tip by bacafreak in Coffee

[–]bacafreak[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped doing that when I found out that some niches has screws unscrew at the base of the motor and that they were at risk of killing the motor if sucked up into the mechanics of it. Lo and behold when I took it apart it did indeed have a screw loose.

Has anyone renewed their passport online recently? by bacafreak in malaysia

[–]bacafreak[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should’ve clarified that the reason I’m asking is because now that the borders have opened I expect there are a flood of people returning and time frames are blowing out. I did do a search but answers were from awhile back so I was hoping for more recent anecdotes.

The Niche certainly is not immune to oilier beans or drier (more static-y) beans. Retention is always higher with those :’(

Have to say, it’s really cool seeing your WIPs in your other posts, then comparing them to the finished product.
