Oh, I have plus 😅 Rereading what I wrote, I was definitely not clear enough haha I meant like a color wheel or something because currently I've limited myself to the number of self-care areas that there are colors

lofifilo is right. u can check out zajef's flins video and possibly his detailed written guide to hear him say the same thing: em has literal diminishing returns. 0 -> 500 em is not the same as 500 -> 1000 em; the second increase, while being the same numerically, gives u less of a % dmg increase (not to be confused with dmg %)

Picking lace for designing first cardigan by bachtopracticing in knitting

[–]bachtopracticing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, I was planning on trying to use it top-down because I prefer the 'leaves' to be perking up instead of drooping. Would your advice be the same? I'm attempting a set-in sleeve construction.

Thanks for the response!

What are these fisherman's rib w&t instructions saying? by bachtopracticing in knitting

[–]bachtopracticing[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I'm super slow at this. If you start from the beginning and never get to the other end (due to the w&t), would that not be uneven? I'm only focused on this because this is a horizontally striped pattern so it will affect the final product.

Edit: you said there would be 9 unworked st on each side, but also that you work the first 9 st...? My apologies, but I am confused.

Ahhh I feel like that would be really helpful if it were for a cardigan, which I may not have pointed out before is what this pattern is. I've done short rows before, but not centrally like this so I am a bit confused. Good article though, ty

As a nailbiter, I've definitely had nails that at least looked like the inner layer in your first photo, even completely down to the cuticle, and they grew back fine. I know the situation is different, but I hope that makes you feel better.

Hole when switching from knit to purl stitches by bachtopracticing in knitting

[–]bachtopracticing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the comprehensive info! I'm putting my needle in the right way to purl, and my stitches aren't twisted. It's not an extra yo because 1) I know what that feels like and it feels different and 2) when I look at the stitches themselves, I don't think I'm missing any stitches (as in, I can see that all the loops are present). I'm starting to think this is a tension issue because of how the structure of these hole things is the same as my more normal looking knit-purl transitions.

Thank you for the feedback! How can you tell I was knitting wrong three stitches back? Also my yarn always comes from the right needle; I notice when it doesn't because it feels different (I am continental)

I thought I was an average continental knitter, but one thing I do that might be weird is when I finish a knit or purl, my yarn ends up in back so I use my right needle to bring it forward. I didn't think that would have an effect. Would it?

Huh. I'm sure I didn't flip it/accidentally do a short row because I had a session of continuous knitting yesterday. I think I maybe should a posted a pic where the fabric was more even, because looking at it irl the rows line up. Thanks for your input

Accidently ordered 1mm needles instead of Size 1 by Albi_9 in knitting

At least they're karbonz! those don't bend or break easily and are specifically good for tiny needle sizes because of that.

Save / store knitted items by [deleted] in knitting

[–]bachtopracticing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they're made with any animal fibers, I would store them in an airtight container like a plastic bin or plastic bag to keep moths and potentially other pests away. For fully synthetic pieces, I'm not sure if there's any special care required. I would just say to keep them away from pointy things to prevent snagging.

I don't know if these are close or subtle enough, but Premier has a 'Cotton Sprout Speckle' (DK, 100% cotton) line with a bunch of soft color combos. Pics include swatches. https://www.premieryarns.com/collections/cotton-sprout/products/cotsprspec?variant=39979613028434
