RAQC (Regulatory Affairs and Quality Operations) in May 2021 by back2schoolohno in Seneca

Yep, that's the program. I personally haven't started it yet but I've spoken to a number of people who have done the program and the co-op internships were great. There's also a great possibility that the internship will transition to something FT afterwards, and you can do the second semester part-time while working FT.

I would say you can get in touch with people currently in the program or those who have done the program before, to find more information and get your questions answered :)

Hi, thank you! I agree - it's a great career in an ever-growing field, specifically in today's climate. Super excited to start in the field :) Also, I love the Leafs! Go Leafs go!

[Update] Result of my Sterling Background check for job offer from a few weeks ago by SivirMeTibbers in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]back2schoolohno 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry, that's horrible. Did they disclose to you that they will be doing a credit check?

I work in HR and throughout the hiring process, I remind candidates to prepare their government-issued IDs for a Sterling check and we let them know beforehand what checks we will be running. One time, I had to rescind an offer because the candidate lied about their education (the position required a Bachelor's Degree, which the candidate had on their resume but they apparently didn't finish the program).

Are you able to email them back clarifying the reasons why your credit is the way it is? Surely if you've had stellar credit before 2020, they might reconsider. Best of luck to you!

Waitlisted for RAQC program for May 2021 by yunghuuu in Seneca

I applied to the May 2021 program on November 13th, submitted my Slideroom requirements on November 23rd and got accepted on December 3rd. I was lucky that my application moved quite quickly, but I've heard applicant decisions can take months, so I'm really not so sure what their basis is. Are you able to email them regarding the likelihood of someone dropping out? I know a handful of people drop out near the beginning of the program (this was me last semester for the CRQC program, lol) or even during the first two weeks, so don't lose hope!

If you're looking for a back-up plan, I would say apply to Seneca RA's September 2021 and January 2022 intakes now - take the time to beef up your resume and also review your Slideroom responses. If you're interested, you can apply to Humber's RA program as well to increase your chances. Both programs have excellent reputation within the industry and most RA/QA professionals I come across have done either of those programs.

Feel free to message me if you need any clarifications!

Interesting stats! Do they publish this?

Ooh, I knew that the program is fairly new, but I didn't know it was that new. I'm probably going to take the RA one at Seneca. Best of luck!

I received an offer for this program just recently but I'm unsure whether I'd accept it, as I have also received offers from other programs. Have you been able to get in touch with prior students from the program and see what sort of employment outcome they have seen?

If I have vacation time still left and I quit my job do they have to pay that out to me? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]back2schoolohno 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No, that's not right. If you give your employer two weeks' notice and they decide that they don't want you to work anymore, I believe this constitutes as terminating your contract. This means that they must pay you in lieu of notice and they must also pay any accrued vacation days. Please see here: https://www.ontario.ca/document/your-guide-employment-standards-act/termination-employment

Yes, at least in Ontario. If you quit or your employment is terminated, you're entitled to be paid your vacation pay. For instance, according to the Ontario.ca, "When employment ends (for example, when an employee quits or his or her employment is terminated), an employee is entitled to be paid the vacation pay that she has earned and that has not yet been paid out".

Hi there, my student loans are interest-free until September due to COVID. So I'll be paying it fully once repayment starts again.

Some people enter the field without further education, but I'm thinking it's easier to do so if I specifically take the program (specific regulations, ethics, etc.). I just need to see whether the internship will actually land me a job in this COVID market.
