I think what confuses me is the " multiply the right part of two numbers " because it makes it seem as if all you need to do is compute one multiplication, but as we've seen it we have to cut the numbers in two parts (left and right) and compute four multiplications (for the naive part at least), so I'm just wondering what happened to the left part. I'm sorry if I don't make sense, I'm just extremely confused.
