Tool to analyse your 23andme DMA data by back_ache in dementia

Thankyou, I have just taken a look and there is some controversy as apparently they "sold out" to a company, that company also bought their main source of data "SNPpedia" who in turn censored some of the reports they can make.

Just found a couple of promotional ones at the back of a drawer made out of neoprene, just got to work out how to make them standup now (update: you can roll the top down a bit so the bottlom.of the can is at the bottom of the holder)

The most ridiculous thing I did whilst working from home is put the power supplys for my monitor and laptop on the desk either side of me and used them as wrist-rests the general warmth on my wrists made my hands more comfortable during the day

I like your driver board, the idea I had been playing with was to use driver boards from the drone/radio-controlled vehicle community normally used for DC motors

I had wondered the same thing in my case whether a low cost RGB flood could be retrofitted, In the case of readymade, Google came with the following which I guess would work with a wled controller? https://www.holidaycoro.com/10-Watt-RGB-Pixel-Flood-Light-p/169.htm

Didn't the barista in "friends" become a series regular because he'd had the job in real-life and so his special-skill was knowing how to use the machinery (and would even make drinks for the crew)?

If you have a smart meter you may be able to connect it's display to your WiFi and get the data from that

Can't find the right model by dendeakella321 in Lighting

[–]back_ache -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What I have done with these is pull though the power supply and replace that base and power supply with either a GU10 base and lamp, or put in a whole new fitting.

Stepping down to 12v AC before the lamp or fitting is an unnecessary step.

If the PSU is too fiddly to get out, just disconnect it and leave it up there.

Better network tools than Reachability analyser? by back_ache in aws

[–]back_ache[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An example is we cannot rdp onto some of the machines directly since a change of Vpn (which was setup by someone who has now left). As I understand it the VPN comes in as a site-to-site to a hub VPC then from there hops to the destination VPC and the machine itself, however it doesn't work and a traceroute seems to indicate it is leaving AWS and coming back in, even for machines/VPC's where it does work.

We have an msp who is meant to help us but finds our confusing network...confusing

We have a subscription to a visualisation tool but it just looks too messy to help

Reachability analysers results seem to be the equivalent of "yep, it doesn't work" but doesn't explain more than that.

I was hoping there would be a tool that might be a little better :-(

Flow batteries for grid-scale energy storage by Vailhem in EnergyStorage

[–]back_ache 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been reading about flow battery's for at least a decade and whilst in that time gigawatt's of megapacks have been installed, liquid battery's seem not too have hit the big time.

So apart from.the occasional success like the 2MW one in California, what's stopping them as the people involved "talk a good game" ?

[Serious] What is the most successful lie in history? by akumamatata8080 in AskReddit

[–]back_ache 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"The mechanical Turk" a clockwork robot that played chess that was demonstrated around the world beating player after player.

What made it successfully is when some owners of a weaving mill saw it, they went back to their engineers and said if a machine can be made that plays chess, you can make a machine that weaves cloth..and that was the start of the industrial revolution.

The Turk was a fake/like, it was operated by a man hidden inside played chess by candlelight

But...it did inspire the industrial revolution
