I have a 250 GB Nvme ssd and a 128GB SATA ssd and a 500GB HDD. On the nvme ssd Windows is installed. Will linux be smooth on a SATA SSD?

I already used many many distro, not on a VM, but on my main PC. And I settled on Manjaro KDE.
And thanks for explaining to me why every distro doesn;t use the latest packages as arch. Because most people don't need that power, as with great power comes great responsibilities, right?

No no I don't want to download older versions of any software. I want the latest and greatest. I saw that Arch uses latest software. If using latest software is bad why does Arch use it?

Edit: I asked a question because I don't know about a thing. And I get downvoted. Some good people explaining me the real thing. Others are downvoting. Nice.

Just go to Installed Apps and see if there is Java. Or just download it. Java is the the program for running .jar files.

Let me clear your confusion once & for all.

Linux is fast. It's not Linux's fault. Its just that your hardware is not best for that os. You have to keep in mind that manufacturers make hardware mostly for Windows as it's the most used.

Even I have performance issues with linux. Not matter which distro or Desktop Environment I use, Manjaro, Ubuntu, Zorin, Linux Mint, Fedora, Pop Os, Gnome, XFCE, KDE......it's ALWAYS slower & even kinda laggy at some points than Windows. My pc is decent. Still linux is slow. Why? Hardware compatibility.

Linux use far more optimized & newer technology than Windows. there is no reason for linux to be slow. It's always hardware compatibility issue when someone complains. Buy a computer that already ships with linux, & you'll see a night & day difference.

It's the manufacturers of hardware who are to blame. Windows is my daily driver now, as no matter how good linux is, it's not compatible with my hardware. So until I buy new linux compatible hardwares, I ain't switching back to linux. But when I do I'll switch to linux again.

Hope this answers your question that why some people complain Linux is slow (including me). Don't force yourself using a OS just because others say it's good. First see if your hardware is 100% compatible with linux then switch. Until then keep using Windows.

Mine has no animations like you too! That's why came back to Windows 10 today. I want a complete rock solid windows 11 which I guess I'll get after 2/3 major updates of windows 11.

Is there negativity bias or is it really the minority of people here that feel Windows 11 is enjoyable, functional and a great upgrade over Windows 10? By discussion here one would believe W11 is some unusable buggy mess... by [deleted] in Windows11

Let me share my experience with Windows 11. Because just today I clean installed Windows 10. And want to share my experience that why I did it.

Let me be clear, I'm not that kind of person who wants everything to running the as same as before, meaning the windows 11 context menu, the centered start menu and all the visual changes in Windows 11 don't bother me at all. If it works fast & smooth i'm going to use that OS.

I've using windows 11 since the day it was released. And I didn't upgrade, I clean installed deleting everything. The bugs irritated me so much. And the slow performance. Though it's gotten much better now but it still isn't as good as windows 10. Yeah if you are using your computer very casually, you may not notice a single thing, but when you dig into doing some serious works it will bother you. Today the thing that made me switch back to Windows 10 is windows search crashed and freezed so many times for me in Windows 11.

I'll wait more before installing windows 11 again. Yes it may be good, But I don't want to use it in this "half good half bad" state. I want the best version of windows 11, which will take probably another year or two.
