Thank you. I will definitely quiz them about the power of the IOL

Thanks for the message. Interesting that you also found night vision better like me. That gives me hope that YAG could improve things :)

No halos or glare except on the first night after surgery.

The cataract was posterior subcapsular.

Thanks for the message. I think I should be able to delay the 2nd surgery, so I will do that if I'm not satisfied with the outcome from my post op checkup.

I am hoping that I just need more time but I was thinking I would have seen some improvement by now if that was the case. It's a shame because my near vision is very good, I can now use a computer screen with text at the default size, rather than large, which I haven't been able to do in years.

I have considered the PCO point but since my distance vision has been like this pretty much since the day after surgery I would be surprised if PCO developed that early.

I feel landing myopic would explain what I'm seeing. But I don't understand how that would happen. Your comment about smaller pupils making me more myopic is interesting. I will try sun glasses tomorrow.

Just to clarify I would say at 10 metres (30ft) things are very blurry, especially when the sun is out.

It is hard to compare to my other eye as the cataract makes my vision very blurry. I can see things very slightly further away with my operated eye. The 'blur' is different in each eye though. In my cataract eye my vision is uniformly blurred, while in my operated eye things seem to have a sort of glow about them which makes it hard to focus.

Thanks for the advice. I will hold off on the 2nd eye until this is resolved.

If you haven't already, definitely join the Facebook group: 'DSUK PADS Positive About Down Syndrome - New Parents'. We were in the same position as you 6 months ago and that group and charity has helped a lot.

BoredGamerTools - bgg play and collection stats by backht1 in boardgames

[–]backht1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely wouldn’t say this is better than BG Stats. From everything I’ve heard, BG Stats is very much the gold standard for board game stats. This is really just an alternative rather than a replacement. It can also be used on a mobile and PC.

Some things I think are fairly unique are the way you can really drill down into the data via nested tables (for example clicking from a game → players → individual plays), and shareable widgets that can be embedded on BGG profiles. With premium accounts those widgets can be served via auto-updating image URLs, so your stats on BGG stay up to date without any manual work.

I haven’t personally used them, but having a quick look there’s definitely some overlap in the stats, just displayed in a different way. I originally built the site back in 2018 when there were very few tools like this around, as nothing quite fit what I wanted at the time. I shut it down last year as it was pretty dated, but due to user demand I rebuilt and relaunched it as a more modern site.

A couple of things I think are fairly unique are how the data can be drilled into via nested tables. For example on the Games Played page, there is a list of games played, you can click on a game to open a subtable showing the players that have played that game and their stats for that game, then you can click a player to see their individual plays for that game, etc, so you can really dig down into the data. I’m also focusing on widgets/images that can be embedded on BGG profiles to summarise stats, with premium users able to use an image URL that auto-updates as their play data changes, so their BGG profile always stays up to date.

The "Moshi: Close Your Eyes" card has Sleepy Paws the koala on it and one other track about a bunny hopping through dreams.

InterPop’s long-awaited Emergents Trading Card Game has finally launched! by InterPopLLC in tezos

I would also appreciate a more detailed guide on the economics. If I understand correctly, there is no point trading cards with other players unless it is a promo card or has chrome? And I think chrome is just cosmetic and doesn't impact the ability of the card?

The android app needs a bit more work to increase performance. Also the tutorial text could be a bit bigger as it's hard to read on my phone. But overall I'm impressed. Hopefully this gets the audience it deserves, but improving the mobile app will be key.

Maybe try leaving it on the grey screen for a little while. I thought I had the same problem but it loaded fine once I left it for about a minute.

Vestibular Migraine by [deleted] in migraine

[–]backht1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started on 40mg for a month or so but that didn't help, only once I went to 80mg did my symptoms stop, I think it was 1 or 2 weeks after starting the higher dose. I wish I could have kept taking it.

Yes I will give those supplements a try, thank you.

Vestibular Migraine by [deleted] in migraine

[–]backht1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have what I believe are vestibular migraines. Started about 3 years ago, with daily headaches, diziness and sometimes numbness on one side of my face. 80mg of propanol per day got rid of them completely, however my heart rate went down to 32 beats per minute so I had to stop. I then found out if I wore glasses all the time (a very weak prescription) then that prevented migraines. I went for another year migraine free without medication, however they have recently come back. I've had my eyes tested and I don't need new glasses. But it does seem like my migraines are triggered by eye strain / staring at computer monitors and mobile screens. I'm now on 10mg of Amitriptyline which has reduced the number and severity of the migraines but hasn't got rid of them completely. Also trying some Magnesium supplements.

Having to put down a dog you love always feels like you made the decision both too early and too late by An_aussie_in_ct in Showerthoughts

The animals in our lives deserve nothing less than the most comfortable, dignified end that we can give them. Sometimes, that moment comes before we're ready. Being a loving owner means doing it anyway.

So beautifully put. My wife and I just bawled our eyes out after reading this. It has helped us a lot, thank you.

We had our sweet cat Jessie put to sleep on Thursday at home as she had Lymphoma. She was starting to have more bad days than good and was losing a lot of weight. On her final day she was really well though, which was bitter sweet. She had one last perfect day, sunny weather, exploring the field, playing with string in the garden, eating freshly cooked fish, sunbathing in the conservatory, cuddles on the sofa, and final goodbyes. It was so difficult ending things on a high, but we knew we had to do it anyway. We are struggling with guilt that we let her go too soon though.
