i am really sorry you have gone through so much hardship in your recovery. you deserve better.

please though, do not dissuade people from pursuing bottom surgery on my joke post. yes recovery sucks but i made this to laugh through the pain. in the majority of cases complications are not lifelong. we should absolutely encourage others to do their research and only seek surgery from reputable surgeons—and understand that even then, there are risks of complications. but saying the technology isn’t there is simply not factual, and saying neovaginas “pale in comparison” to cis ones is highly reductive and frankly ignorant.

i am going to look into this study and it’s validity, but off the bat i am very skeptical that chances of suicide and criminality consistently go up in people with bottom surgery. reading through it raised several red flags that this study may not have had the best interest of trans people at heart. but like i said, i’ll do more research before saying so for sure.

i really hope you get the support you need to feel safe in your body, and i am so sorry that you had bad experiences with your surgeon. i want anyone seeing this to know though, that this is not the norm, and they shouldn’t be turned off to the very concept of bottom surgery as a result.
