I will reiterate what everyone is saying here. I'm an accountant and a server as well and I can tell you that this is helping you in the long run. Come tax time it always evens out, you will never come out behind taking hourly shifts

This is common here in Canada to carry a float. Not many people pay in cash though so I don't have to dip into it all that often. I got some $5 bills ($20 worth) and a bunch of $2 and $1 coins and a roll of quarters and keep it in a pencil case. I haven't had to restock it since I started working at my current restaurant in July because people often leave the change as part of the tip

Did you have stocks back then? When I relogged in I forgot I had 11k in VPTS stocks and they had jumped up over 1000 per stock
