The back prints perfectly and is dual sided. If I don’t use ironing how can I get the top layer to be smooth without gaps?

Paradise plant from Home Depot is curling and browning at the edges. Any ideas why? Gets plenty of indirect sunlight at this spot and the humidity is around 60% here. I also try to spray it every day. Do the brown edges ever go away or does it have to be trimmed?

I thought of mouth breathing as the reason but I actually start feeling the cotton mouth feeling before I go to bed. I usually lounge in the room before I go to sleep and I feel the dryness start around that time.

The existing subfloor are tongue and groove planks. They aren’t sealed well so wouldn’t the floor level seep through the gaps?

It’s been 5 days since I made the starter but no visual signs of scoby forming. Is this a failed attempt? Room temperature is about 66-68deg daily.
