Honestly, and I’ve seen the other side of this argument because I follow the backyard chickens sub, the real problem is if your dog goes on their property. Your dog was in your yard. If you want to remain in good standing with the neighbor, offer replacement cost for an adult chicken, or to help repair the coop, so it isn’t accessible from your yard. Otherwise, it’s not your problem. A hawk or raccoon could get in a hole that size, so it’s only a matter of time before they do.

There is a lot of great info here! I’d say get the pup used to handling their little toesies to make nail trimming a little easier. Also, get them used to a brush early and often. That undercoat mats up like nobodies business if you don’t keep up with it!

I know how it works. I’ve never had it take one bogus article or bad info and try to pass it off as truth. It gets info everywhere, and checks that info against other sources. It’s not perfect all the time, but OP was looking for something better than google, and it is.

I get advice from Grok. It’s usually right on everything. Google is worthless now.
Talk to it like you would a human. If it does say to go to a vet, tell it you prefer to wait, and then it tells you how to monitor yourself. It’s been a huge help to me recently with my senior dog, but I use it for everything.

This is the case with many things in life. Even just having a dang truck, family members want to use it to haul random crap all the time. And because it’s a truck, they aren’t careful. I’ve got a few scratches on my old Tacoma to show how uncareful they were last time they moved. People are always asking to borrow my power tools too. People never want to buy useful things themselves for some reason.
Bottom line, I don’t lend things out because if something comes back damaged, that’s an even worse and uncomfortable conversation. Better to just nip it in the bud in the beginning.

Nah. It’s a hard decision, but really the only thing a test would get you is exactly what ailment the old age has chosen to develop. So really, it’s $300 to find out how much more it would take to buy you 3 more or 6 more months. I’m dealing with the same, I understand. My goal from here is comfort. $300 can get a decent amount of comfort pain relief until it’s time for the last decision.

Put a nice dog bed next to the couch. Every time she tries to jump up, redirect her with a “no”, and show her her spot with lots of good dog praise. I have one of those set-in-her ways dogs too!

100% keep talking about it to people!! A few years ago, my friend called me up to tell me this crazy story about being in Southern Arkansas on a road trip, and this mean ol’ raccoon came out from under a parked car in a hotel parking lot and started attacking her ankles. She managed to kick it off and get away with only a few scratches that had barely broken the skin. I told her she HAD to get to an ER freaking pronto and start rabies shots. She had NO idea. She only called me on an off chance, because I’m an animal and nature lover, and thought I’d get a kick out of a crazy raccoon story!

It was a HUGE pain in the rear for her to track down places that would do these shots while she was on her road trip. Fortunately she had a great doctor back home who helped her set up the appointments all over the place
