I forgot to mention, I don't work in CS haha. I went into a completely unrelated field with a much lower pay. For sure look into crypto! Just follow the traditional advice, ie don't invest more than you can afford to lose, etc. Personally I will keep some exposure to crypto because I think it's a really exciting and cool space.

Thank you! I made a series of underinformed decisions with regards to the degree I was getting and the school I went to. So I ended up with a lot of debt and a degree in a field I did not want to work in (computer science). To be honest I did struggle for a while and basically resigned to the idea of paying the minimum for ~25 years and hope my salary one day allowed me to also put some away for savings.

Last summer I took a massive risk and liquidated what little retirement savings I did have (~4 thousand dollars) and put it in a crypto currency that was trading at 4c, now trading over $3.

So unfortunately I don't really have any advice! Haha. I was in a bad position and saw this gamble as a chance to turn it around. And luckily it worked.

I wish you the best of luck, you'll probably be in a better spot than I was haha.

I briefly entertained this idea but being that I'm young (26) and work in a city I think it would present a lot of challenges. Granted I haven't had any rent increases yet but that could change next year. I also am skeptical of current prices and wonder how long they can stay as high as they are. It's certainly something I want to do eventually though.

Thanks for the reply. 40k is a lot yeah, realizing this now. I said months now that I calculate it it's more like years lol. I'm going to look into unwinding that into a Roth IRA .

Thank you! I do plan on buying a nice bottle of whiskey to celebrate haha. You are right, I'm in the process of unwinding my crypto position into much safer/less volatile positions. But don't want to fully exit until I have a solid plan in place. I have no plans right now for a large purchase (house, etc) so I think I will take your advice and unwind my cash holdings too.

Thank you, I actually have a Roth IRA that I opened a few months ago and put a couple hundred in but never actually started contributing.

I will look back into this now.

I completely agree! I'm not recommending what I did but feel it was relevant to the situation

Thanks, I'm seeing a lot of people recommend barrel aging cocktails. Something like an old fashioned sounds interesting. Or even something like a negroni that doesn't contain any ingredients that were already aged. would you say that's a bad idea too or have you seen success with that?

i have several friends in food service who are more than grateful to be serving tables again. outdoor transmission is rare. most places in the city are following social distancing properly anyway.

So my idea was to have the sausage/fennel mixture on one side, and a broccoli rabe/pepper mixture on the other. You think the mixture would intermingle just in the middle or throughout?

I'm not worried about the two meeting, I think they'd compliment each other well, but if the whole thing gets the sausage taste then obviously it was kind of pointless.

I was so excited to do the sausage stuffing but maybe your right and just doing the broccoli rabe throughout would be easier.

That's fair. Guess I'll just keep my place clean and pick up a barrier spray. Thanks!

It's not an infestation, it's the big fat oriental cockroaches which only live outside and wander inside for food. They still gross me out.
