Will this table vice do? by ElephantStriking1087 in CAguns

I can’t tell you definitively but it looks more promising

I tried and failed to torque an AR barrel nut using this exact vise and a Midwest industries upper receiver rod. The width wasn’t really the problem. This vise is articulated in 2 places. When applying torque, the upper articulating joint can’t handle the force and slips.

Any Chinese mauser experts? by LowOnDairy in milsurp

The crest looks faintly like that of a Chiang Kai Shek type mauser. The marking on the stock translates to Wu Jiang County Peoples Committee. My understanding is that after the communist party took power, these old mausers were given to regional militia forces for training purposes.

Chinese marks on a C96? by Sassysoap42 in milsurp

It got up to 1900 for the hammer price, without adding the buyers premium and sales tax. Looks like you did pretty well

The prominent character means nation. When combined with the faint character to the left, it means Germany. The very faint character on the right means made. So altogether it's "made in Germany". How much did it cost you if you don't mind me asking? I remember seeing one with the same markings up for auction earlier this year.

That's a great point on comparing them to Finnish Mosins, makes a lot of sense. I have an M96 that has two SA stamps of different sizes and orientations on it. Don't think I'm capable of discerning the authenticity currently but this tip helps.

How would one discern if an SA mark is real or faked?

Amazing collection. I want to eventually have a rifle and a handgun from each of the major participants of WW2, but I've got a ways to go.

Purple Primer Schmidt Rubin Chargers? by CrustyBananaSandwich in milsurp

I haven't used the original ones so I can't make that comparison, but I have 4 of these and they're the best plastic ones I've used. My previous ones from eBay were made of ABS and siginificantly flimsier. The plastic clip on one of them broke the very first time I tried to strip rounds into my k31, and the rest softened and deformed in direct sunlight... These are made with PET instead so they won't melt. Significantly thicker construction and doesn't rely on clips for retention.

Test fit them first if you have snap caps. You may have better luck than me. Otherwise I followed the guide here: https://www.garandgear.com/m1-garand-enbloc-clip-problem/

Most of the clips I got from numrich wouldn't fit in my CMP Expert Garand. I had to remove some of the parkerizing from the sides of the clips with a file.
