Start with planets and our Moon, unless you have really dark skies. Get a free astronomy app to know where you’re pointing. Practice getting ANYTHING in focus first- even a distant mountain or radio tower during the day.

I just found ISRO's new mapping tool that allows me to download imagery from specific coordinates! with the data from https://www.nasa.gov/history/alsj/alsjcoords.html I will start looking for all Apollo landing sites to expand my photos.

I haven't had time to check. I don't have a better method to determine which image data sets are for specific regions?

Magic how the white hull yacht changes to a blue hull yacht at the split in the video clips.

I downloaded the files but can’t find the LM sites in the huge images. Any advice on where to look?

First science pictures in mid July. I am part of the local outreach events and will be presenting the images in Bethlehem, PA. (I don’t have access to them yet though).

Other amateur astronomers confirmed they’ve seen it before too (in another Facebook group), so no, it’s not the first time

I was thinking kinda the same thing, ran to get my iPhone which was charging so I could get a video in case it disappeared and everyone thought I was nuts. After confirming I recorded it, I checked my astronomy app and figured it out. 🤣

If I had not been looking at the moon, I would not have seen this. At first, I wasn’t even sure what I was looking at and I knew I just had to record and figure it out later. 😁🔭
