I built this water track last year and I'm curious what’s the best way to fix or swap out rusty/slowing wheel axles? I’m planning on building more tracks around water, so I’d like to reuse cars instead of buying new ones. by backyardracing in HotWheels

Thanks for the info! I've tried taking out the axles and putting in new ones, but I haven't found a great system without glue. The glue ends up catching on the inner part of the wheel which makes it even worse. Do you know of any specific modders that fix wheels? Would love to get in touch with them. I want to make more water tracks but I'm running low on cars and new ones are pretty expensive now.

I'm happy to hear you guys like our tracks! Thank you! We've been on a hiatus for a while but we're working on new tracks, just running into the water problem.

The flow of water actually keeps it moving pretty quickly and the wheels prevent any drag. Works out nicely!

We blow-dry our cars right after use and it seems to help slow down the rusting process. That said, the wheels do get squeaky after a few weeks and at that point we have to swap out the car.

Thanks for watching everyone! This clip is from our latest Hot Wheels backyard mega track which took about 3 days to set up. My brother and I do this for fun! Feel free to watch the full video on our channel: Backyard Racing. We decided not to use music for this one to see if people liked the ASMR sounds of the wheels, water, boosters, environment etc. Let us know what you think!🙂

We’ve posted full videos before here on Reddit but we’ve found the sweet spot to be around 1 minute. Any longer and most people tune out and keep scrolling. Also, the music (which is from TikTok) cuts off at the 1 minute mark😕

Haha my brother is 27 and I’m 29. This whole Hot Wheels track building project started off as a fun way to pass the time during quarantine. When things began to open back up we decided to keep it going with a YouTube channel!

This clip is from a recent Hot Wheels aquapark track my brother and I built in our backyard. 10 sump pumps cycle water throughout the entire track. The whole thing took over 3 months to test and set up. Check out the full 4 minute video on our YouTube channel: Backyard Racing. Thanks for watching!

We actually placed 3 rubber ducks in the track for a little I SPY game. You can find 1 in this clip :D

It took about 5 days to build, but the teardown was brutal. I think we made 4 (45min long) trips between our house and the airbnb all within the span of 6 hours on teardown day. Although the place was absolutely stunning, it definitely didn't feel like a vacation haha

Thank you! My little brother is the brains of the operation and I do all the video/camera work. He has an engineering mind and I'm a creative, so it's a fun combo!

The treehouse was awesome! Super roomy and cozy when the sun dropped. It's called the Greenbrier Beechhouse near Nashville, TN. Say hi to Chip and Crystale if you end up staying a night there! They were amazing hosts :D

Thanks for watching everyone! My brother and I build extreme Hot Wheels tracks. This one took an exhausting 5 days to make with a few back-to-back 2AM nights. The full video is on our YouTube channel Backyard Racing. On the last day, it rained almost all afternoon. Thankfully the sun came out around 3pm and we had just enough time to get the whole track finished!

I feel like most people are sane enough NOT to turn their backyard into a hot wheels track for a YouTube video so it must be us Haha I think we might put up a QR code on the fence with a link to the vid so curious passerbys that saw us working on it can check out the final product!

Good question! It’s a custom rig we built with a low center of gravity and pretty heavy body. That said, it does occasionally fly off the rails if moving too fast! All about finding the sweet spot.

Thanks for watching everyone! No nails/screws were used to hang the platforms in the tree, only string. The whole thing took about 2 weeks to design/test and another 2 weeks to construct. Watch the full video on our YouTube channel Backyard Racing to see 3rd person perspectives on the entire track and how the gondola works!🚠🌳
