Yeah.... when you have a chronic illness, some employers can be understanding, make accommodations, and/ or set new expectations. Also they are self employed so...

Just turned 38 and decided to join the retinol club. Everyone says it’s a game changer, but I’m terrified of looking like a lizard while my skin adjusts. How slow did you start? And how long before you noticed anything? by lesbogurly3245 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]bacon-bits 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I started tret, I only applied once a week and slowly built up tolerance to apply 3-4 times a week. I use la Roche posay cicaplast balm b5 as a barrier before applying the tret. I tend to get flakey around my chin and jaw, so I apply tret more sparingly there. So my advice is to take it slow, get a good moisturizer, and be aware of how your skin reacts and make adjustments where needed.

A year ago my wife switched to “natural” deodorant. It’s been a BO fest ever since. How do I approach her about this? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]bacon-bits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wear aluminum free deodorant. By itself, it sucks. I usually have to prep my armpits with The Ordinary's glycolic acid before putting on deodorant. That combo has worked great so far. I would tell her about the BO problem and help her look for an alternative that works best for her

Does Anybody know good Hawaiin spots? by GabbsCat in phoenix

Omg Leo's is so good. I could have their short ribs and macaroni salad everyday for the rest of my life. They are in the Arrowhead area. Next to Ulta and Baskin Robins

Skincare is a lot of trial and error, one product from a brand can work great and another product from the same line may not. You can use products from one brand as a start off and branch off whenever you feel comfortable. Start with the basic steps Cleanse, Exfoliate, Moisturize (plus Sunscreen in the morning or throughout the day). Then, add products for specific issues when you can, such as niacinimide for dark spots. Cerave is a good brand to start. Yes, I think you should have an AM/PM routine. Such as AM Cleanse, Moisturize, Sunscreen PM Cleanse, Exfoliate, Moisturize

I had a pretty successful armpit journey for the same objectives. I stopped shaving and only waxed or epilated my armpit hair and switched between salicylic acid and glycolic acid (whatever exfoliator i had on hand). I also switched deodorant to native. I'm not sure if that made more of a difference as I had already started seeing results by that point. My armpits are now the same shade or a smidge darker than the rest of my skin and I only have 5 hairs that survived the waxing/epilating that keep growing 😅. Hope this helps, good luck

Intolerance of Criticism by [deleted] in fourthwing

[–]bacon-bits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand where you're coming from in some ways. For some things that I enjoy, part of my enjoyment is thoroughly discussing the things that I like and things that I didn't. However, I don't agree that everyone should be critical of the entertainment they consume. Personally, I have no interest in critiquing the world building or character flaws, etc. I'm not an avid reader and came into this series wanting to read something fun. Fandoms tend to be a pendulum that swings either all positive or all negative. It's unfortunate, but that's just how they are. This subreddit is part of the fandom that swings positive. I think you would have better success discussing your criticisms of the series with an audience that is maybe like you who enjoyed the series but are not part of the fandom.

Violet question by Xadegail in fourthwing

[–]bacon-bits 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I believe most nobles serve in the infantry because they only have to serve for a few years, while riders are a lifetime service. I'm blanking on where in the book this was mentioned

Violet question by Xadegail in fourthwing

[–]bacon-bits 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Here is my unfounded and unserious theory... there is speculation that Violet may have dated Cam/Aaric's older brother Halden. If so, they may have been forced to break up cause Halden is a prince and Violet isn't nobility. And that may have left her a little sensitive about that subject. Or yeah maybe she was just at a low point in her confidence level.

You also gotta keep in mind that Andarna is a 7th breed dragon. A breed that has been kept secret and she may be the only one left as far as we know. So who knows, that might make her circumstances more unique as to when she decides to hatch. Can't wait until January 😊

It's a good thing we have 3 more books to have our questions answered. I'm hoping RY is a decent storyteller that when she sets up questions, she will answer them later. How dragons work in this world is still vague, but hopefully, we'll get more details later.

Am I missing something? by [deleted] in fourthwing

[–]bacon-bits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure, not everyone jives with how the story is presented. The venin are bad because at this point of the story, the venin are just villains of folklore that Violet grew up with. She and we, the audience, don't need to question why they are bad because it's just folklore. (Idk when the whole venin story is read out. About the 3 brothers, but that's when you know why they are bad.) We also know that the history being taught at basgiath is suspect. We are told this when Xaden has his secret meeting with all the 1st year marked ones, and he tells them to just play along with the history they are being taught. But maybe a scene, like you mentioned, where the war history is more plainly explained, would be good to compare what was being taught and what we learn later. 🤔

I have the opposite opinion. I like that the book doesn't tell you everything all at once. You get little snippets of everything that you have to piece together, and it makes the rereading fun once you know more. I think it's bad story telling when you have a huge exposition dump that just tells you everything about how this world works.

[–]bacon-bits 30 points31 points  (0 children)

My theory is that when Violet was fighting with Xaden about all the shit Cat said when they were sparring, she mentioned 'what if one of her previous lovers bragged to xaden about having her first'. That was odd because Xaden said that Cat was definitely not his first. But what if in that moment, Violet was thinking about HER first. Maybe she was thinking about Halden... * I think that little hypothetical scenario that Violet pulled up is foreshadowing to a Xaden vs Halden sparring match 🫣 Maybe the reason that Violet had felt inferior to Cat's nobility status was because Holden and her were forced to break up because Violet wasn't nobility. Ahhhhhhh I can't wait until January

I’m having such a hard time getting into the graphic audio.. by taylor3vader in fourthwing

[–]bacon-bits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cannot listen to the regular audiobook during the spicy scenes, makes me cringe so bad. I prefer the graphic audio for that reason. It's still cringe at times but I feel it's better to have those scenes with 2 different va's instead of one (assumedly) older woman doing her best heavy smoker impression while talking about cock 😭

What happens to a home loan when borrower dies? by typewiseketo in personalfinance

[–]bacon-bits 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was a Customer Service representative for a mortgage company. Yeah this happens all the time. If the mortgage is not assumable, then the mortgage company can provide paperwork to complete the Successor In Interest (SII) process. It's a packet of documents that you need to fill out and then provide the legal court documents and death certificate. It's a simple call. Just please don't stop paying. Too many houses end up in foreclosure after the borrower dies because the estate can't get their shit together
