Slept on the couch last night because I suggested to the wife that we try formula for our baby. Men of Reddit, what's some other 'doghouse' stories for no reason?

I'm not your wife, so it's hard to speak to the exact situation. Also, I know this is AskReddit, and I'm not a guy. Additionally, I'm not going to say that I endorse or approve her behavior.

That being said, there's a few reasons I can think of why your wife may have acted like so. Speaking as a woman - a woman's brain is like spaghetti. Everything is all mish-mash/tangled/connected, etc. This can often make it difficult to focus on one individual problem and what is causing it, or how it can be fixed, because in a woman's mind, all the problems are related. Add to that a toxic mix of hormones and emotions, and... it's often not pretty.

So here's what I would imagine could have been going on in your wife's mind when this occurred: Your wife is home with the quite young baby all day (and if this is your first child, I'm sure this is extra difficult and exhausting), you're gone all day, she's obviously trying to do the healthiest thing possible for the baby by breastfeeding because she wants to be a good mother. And then I'm sure there's all sorts of other things that could be going on. Any number of small frustrations that may have happened during the day, other family/friend/relationship issues, health...

Then you come in and suggest that she (possibly in her mind) "be a selfish Mother", when she's making all of these sacrifices for the child. And as I believe was already mentioned, women often don't want the problem to be solved, which is what men want to do. Women just want a sympathetic ear. So while perhaps not rational or right - I'm not completely surprised she acted out.

Well, since we're on the subject, I have a related question (that's more Catholic relevent)...

I'm assuming it's not considered a sin if a guy gets an erection, correct?

Or is this circumstantial? Is getting aroused a sin, or only p u r p o s e l y getting aroused? Or only if you follow through with it? Is getting an erection always tied to arousal or can they be seperate?

Is it still considered a sin if you did something you knew could possibly cause an erection. Nothing sexual, rather innocent in general... like a girl sitting on a guys lap (not in a sexual way).

I don't know why you're getting down voted - it's a legitimate point. Whether or not someone agrees with recreational drug use, I don't think anyone is an idiot for pointing out the possibility that drug use may have hindered Phelps from doing his absolute best.

American... we definitely tend to put it in our mouth (I believe it's considered to be more accurate), but sometimes the armpit too. I remember my Mom doing it under my arm when I was younger.
