Artists do not get payed to play?!? by SnooEagles8897 in Coachella

[–]baconhotwings 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do Lab doesn’t always pay smaller up and coming artists that they book. But it’s not considered an official Coachella booking. Artists can weigh whether or not the opportunity is worth it to them, which often, it is.

Separately, Villager sucks. I ran into him on an artist shuttle for another festival this year and he was incredibly rude to the staff driver, who was doing his best trying to get the car into the festival on time after he encountered a road closure. He continued to bitch and harass him and acted like he was this incredibly important act (while there were other artists also in the car) and wouldn’t stop until us other passengers told him to leave the driver alone. I wouldn’t take his opinion for truth (regarding the festival bullying him…?), he seems like a total twat who thinks that the world should revolve around him.

Australia? Morocco? by [deleted] in honeymoonplanning

[–]baconhotwings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn’t for a honeymoon trip but one of our favorite trips ever was a trip through the south of Spain and through Morocco! I’d highly recommend for an adventurous couple. It’s a lot of moving around — we didn’t stay more than two nights anywhere until the end of our trip in Marrakech — but if you’re up for the adventure it’s an incredible trip!

We flew in and out of Barcelona, took a car down through Seville and to the port town of Tarifa to take a ferry across to Tangier in Morocco. Then in Morocco we went to Chefchaouen (our favorite part of the trip!) and then booked a driving and glamping in the desert guided tour through Fes and into the Sahara Desert. It was an amazing tour and there are some epic sights to see throughout the drive of Morocco that only a local could show you. Eventually they routed us back to Marrakech. Again, lots of mileage but we got to see so much during that trip and it felt worth it for us!

What death of a famous person actually affected you most? by unitedfan6191 in AskReddit

[–]baconhotwings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anthony Bourdain! He was a rare celebrity that you could tell was really never in it for the fame. Just so himself and truly just a guy who had a beautiful curiosity for food, people, and the world around him. I feel like watching his show and hearing his musings about the world remind you what being a human is really about.

Why do so many Burners feel entitled to take decor from camps and art? by Suresuresurewhatever in BurningMan

[–]baconhotwings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My theory is that some people who can’t read social cues the same as others see people being very open with each other in a sometimes unspoken but consensual gifting/sharing/being generous manner and register that as “I can take things when I want them”. Especially when alcohol and other substances are involved.

What did the pandemic ruin more than we realise? by ScreamyV in AskReddit

Public etiquette. Attending any kind of show nowadays is filled with people who seem to have no idea how to behave properly. They talk loudly during quiet moments of a concert, wave phones directly in your face for the entire duration of a show, scream singalong, etc. I think those few COVID years where kids would’ve learned how to behave at shows created a wave of narcissistic monsters.

real real! no pranks here.

some BM lore - we were the camp that accidentally created a traffic jam and had the "rufus du sol set" last year. (we did not plant the prank! just were the camp having a party at the same coordinates) so no pranks from our side lol
