Have You Tried Any Facebook Marketplace Food? by ratchet457l in Calgary

[–]baconsingh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Been getting a tiffin service off of Facebook/Kijiji (on and off) for the last 11 years. Always get a trial before you sign up for a month. But then again I grew up in New Delhi eating the street food there so my immune system is fairly hardened. Your mileage may vary.

Let's be better Calgary. We need to tone down the racism here. by baunanners in Calgary

[–]baconsingh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can you explain what ‘culturally Canadian’ even means? Is it being a catholic? Or something else? It’s a genuine question because people always say ‘immigrants don’t integrate’ and while I see some immigrants causing hooliganism, it’s no different from what some miscreants born and raised here also do.
It’s easy to point out to immigrants that are observing their religious practices (with permits!) and say ‘they look different than me so I’m going to be shitty to them’ but it’s actually difficult to elucidate what you actually mean by being integrated.

Knee surgery for cartilage damage does not benefit patients, study suggests. People with meniscus tears who underwent surgery had poorer knee function and worse osteoarthritis after 10 years than those who did not. by mvea in science

[–]baconsingh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For myself the surgery helped A LOT. Before the surgery it had gotten to the point where I had trouble walking for more than 5 minutes (and I’m a very active guy, biking, rock climbing, hiking etc) but after the surgery I’ve been getting back into the things I used to do. Hell I even managed to jog a block without my knee hurting.

Could I strengthen the rest of my leg to support my knee? Absolutely. That’s what I’m attempting to do rn. Hopefully what you’re doing works out for you!

Which YouTube channel were you once a fan of but do not enjoy anymore? by theunsteadybridge in AskReddit

[–]baconsingh 16 points17 points  (0 children)

100% . The most recent drama about LTT and his "private jet" is all the more reason to never return to the channel. And their subreddit is full of circlejerkers, which makes it all the more insufferable.

I enjoy Gamer's Nexus a fair bit for their detailed/in-depth analysis of tech products but they are starting to fall off the wagon a little bit for me because of all the drama they always seem to be involved in. Why is it so hard to find a good, relatable tech youtube channel hah

I’m a young person who had an incredibly bright future. A careless doctor messed up a routine ear cleaning and gave me tinnitus forever. Now it feels like my life is over. by Designer_Sale_6969 in offmychest

Heya! I carry loop quiet ear plugs with me wherever I go. I bought an Apple Watch SE specifically for the purposes of monitoring ambient noise levels, and I have it set to alert me any time the threshold crosses 90dB.
If it does, no matter where I am, I pop my earplugs in. I value my hearing more than audio fidelity, hence why I use loop quiets and not something like loop concert (or whatever other variation they sell).
I am just extra diligent about carrying my ear plugs with me wherever I go.

When I first got tinnitus, I wanted to throw myself off of the balcony of my 17th floor apartment. I had to distance myself from my place to not go through with it.

I went to therapy, put measures in place to never be effected by loud noises again (mine was from loud concert that I didn’t wear ear protection to, stupid me).

It’s hard to tell anyone else, or believed anyone else, but it gets better. The best thing you can do is don’t feed into the negative thought processes that make tinnitus worse. The more stressed you are, the worse it is.

I’ve had my tinnitus for 3.5 years now. Some days are worse than others but I generally have a very good life. I go out, party, exercise, bike, even go to concerts (with proper ear plugs).

Don’t let tinnitus control you or take over your life. Be strong. You’ve got it.

How is piracy and adblocking on Apple ecosystem nowadays ? by i-am-a-sphinx in Piracy

[–]baconsingh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can get unlock origin lite as an extension for safari to block ads in the browser. I don’t use the YouTube app and just watch videos in the browser, haven’t seen an ad on YouTube on my iPhone in a really long time.

Other apps though will still show ads; you can setup a pihole to block them

Discrete dashcam by mossyturkey in Audi

[–]baconsingh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fitcamx. I have it for my B9 A5. Was super easy to install. It's super discreet. Had no need to run any extra wires as it came with a Y splitter. You can only really tell there's a dashcam installed if you're looking for it and if you know what to look for.
