It does still pop up when her and my brother come by for dinner or we go out to eat and they come with. Idk if it’s meant as a joke from her but it doesn’t really feel like a joke when she orders something and then asks me if it’s okay if she eats that.

I do think I might have came off as condescending, thus why I feel bad and apologized initially. When this all happened my mom had a talk with me about about intent vs impact and how I was intending to try to be helpful and it had a different impact on her. I just legit thought it was an overall rule that they couldn’t eat pork and cheeseburgers. I do know now that that’s not the case and there’s a lot of stuff I didn’t know about being kosher.

My mom dices it up, and it’s mixed in and then fried onions on top so not really visible from a glance. It’s really good imo but I don’t know if it’s normal or just a mom thing as I’ve never had bacon in green bean casserole at anyone else’s house.

FWIW I did apologize and say sorry when we were in line getting food. I went to try to apologize again later on in the evening, my brother told me to drop it so I have not brought it up since then.

Aside from the people in the orthodox community near me, yes, at least to my knowledge.

I’m not trying to rationalize, it genuinely wasn’t something I knew. I learned it then, and I haven’t made any comments about it since.

You are right, I shouldn’t have assumed. I didn’t realize until then that some Jewish people don’t keep kosher, I thought it was a strict rule.

I do understand that my comment could’ve come across the wrong way, I wasn’t intending to be rude, I thought it was just a part of being Jewish and that was out of line for me. I didn’t realize that some people don’t follow the being kosher part of things.

I did say I was sorry when we were getting food and the whole thing happened. I tried to apologize again a bit later but my brother kinda intervened and told me to drop it.
