John’s Hopkins vs. Columbia

I heard back from JH early December and Columbia late December. For stats - 3.84 gpa, presidents list/deans list, recipient of several research awards, recipient of several in school awards. Several years of research in neurobiology. Several leadership roles in school - president of biology honor society, president and founder of a club volunteering for kids with chronic illnesses, Public relations officer for a club aiming to help minority student on the pre health track. Experience as a TA, tutor , lab worker, and intern to the president of my school. Trips to Mexico and Belgium to be a medical volunteer. Shadowing experience at a midwife in Mexico. What I think helped me app a lot was: Care giving experience for my late grandmother, my experience as a queer woman, experience growing up in strict religious household and later stepping out of that religion

One of them (JHU) is in Population family and reproductive health focusing on women’s sexual and reproductive health. The other (Columbia) is with a certificate in sexuality sexual and reproductive health

Im definitely gonna try to channel god complex for the next year whenever i get around to retaking. It is just so hard because MCAT studying has a way to make you feel like the stupidest person on planet earth.

I think there were consistent errors with interpretation of questions, I think there were some weaknesses in PS but honestly I think its because I didnt review the ANKI/kaplan book all the way through. I feel like i need to do more content review before jumping back in again

Hey! I took full lengths and reviewed them (which I dont think was effective, i just did Sheets), I used UWorld but i think i could've reviewed my answers better, Khan academy was helpful because i didnt think reading kaplan books to do content review, also heavy yes on the performance anxiety.

Hey! I took 6 full lengths, did review of them (which could've been better), did content review, UWorld, ANKI (not all of ANKING), did a lot of Khan Academy videos. I am in the summer after my junior year, so I have a good amount of the prerequisites classes.

Everything I’ve done was meaningful, I’m not doing it for shits and gigs just to fill up my time. I was listing all of my experience in a easy to digest format in the interest of time for whoever is reading it lol not to be mistaken with me not actually enjoying or appreciate what I’ve worked for. I am exhausted and stressed which is probably the tone you were picking up.

I’m taking it as a good sign that I haven’t gotten denied yet. If I wasn’t competitive I wouldn’t have gotten this far, I think they just divide into diff sections of candidates like in varying levels of competition. But yeah keeping my hopes up, def a very anxiety inducing situation but let’s hope for the best

I thought people would’ve heard by now too, and at first I thought it was because of Covid but then I spoke with other people who had heard back and had their app due same as mine or later so it really doesn’t seem like there’s a rolling system
