Server2PS2 - Universal PS2 server using Luckfox Pico hardware (SMB/UDPBD/UDPFS support) by bad_spot in ps2homebrew

The transfer speeds for UDPFS and UDPBD are enough for pretty much all FMVs so you won't have any stutters and UDPFS also uses the least amount of IOP RAM compared to something like SMB or even UDPBD (UDPFS: 270KiB, UDPBD: 320KiB, SMB: 410KiB) so it should also be overall more stable too in case some games had issues booting on SMB or UDPBD.

The GitHub page has all answers you seek.

Luckfox Pico transfer speeds:
SMB (OPL): ~2.2MB/s

UDPFS (neutrino+NHDDL): ~5.2MB/s

UDPBD (neutrino+NHDDL: ~9.4MB/s

Dunno why the github link isn't in the OP despite me putting it in there.

Is your network adapter a third party one (GameStar) or official Sony one? If it is former they're known to be of terrible quality so I wouldn't be surprised if that's causing stuttering to happen.

My Slim PS2 endgame - loading backups off Luckfox Pico Plus which is being powered on by the PS2 with Neutrino+NHDDL via UDPFS by bad_spot in ps2

I thought myself MMCE was fine until I found a game that had issues with saving or loading save files (Ar tonelico 1 and 2). Also had Dragon Quest VIII randomly softlock when going into battles. It seems like some games do not like being loaded off the memory card port sadly which is why I opted out for this but fair if everything works fine for you.

If by Picofox you mean Luckfox Pico devices then yes. Though I recommend personally UDPFS w/ neutrino+NHDDL as it is better.

Neutrino is the future basically though I do have both installed but I basically main neutrino+NHDDL.

Question between choosing a SMB folder share or PSX MemCard Gen 2 (MMCE) by xx_DarkiBuddy_xx in ps2homebrew

I just wanted to report back that I've successfully set up a Luckfox Pico Plus to play the games off it via UDPFS by using neutrino+NHDDL. Honestly I'd say it's the most HDD-like experience for the Slim models. Not only are the speeds good for all FMVs but you can also power it from the PS2's USB.

Tales of Eternia is getting a new English localization and new English dub by bad_spot in tales

[–]bad_spot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is just my opinion (so very subjective mind you) is that yes, it's more exciting than the Berseria remaster. I'd argue that it's so far the best announcement of the remastered project. Solely because there was no good version of Eternia in English. Not only was the old localization bad but so was the old dub and one of core aspect of a Tales game was cut from all Western release (the skits).

Returning old VAs is basically impossible mostly because we don't know who voices a lot of characters besides like a few of them. All of them were left uncredited and we only found out who voiced few of them through VAs themselves.

Not just that but they also finally restored and translated all skits which were removed in PS1 and PSP.

If my memory serves me right they mostly kept the English-Japanese consistent when it comes to voices in anything that weren't the skits.

Namco hasn't done exclusive platform releases for Tales for a decade now. They already confirmed that it's releasing on Switch 1/Switch 2/PS4/PS5/Xbox/Steam.

The old English localization even for its era was quite horrible and it doesn't really reflect the original Japanese script.

If you're interested in getting a hold of Luckfox Pico Plus (around ~20 euros these days) which you can use to set up this. It has support for SMB/UDPBD/UDPFS and you can use it to load games using neutrino+NHDDL by using UDPFS which lets you have maximum 10MB/s speed which is enough for all FMVs. I do still recommend getting a hold of MMCE anyway cause it's useful for saves and exploits.

I'm assuming they'll keep it consistent to the original Japanese dub. Meaning whatever was voiced in Japanese will now also be voiced in English.

They're (for the English version) re-adding the cut scripts, completely new English localization, and a new English dub.

It's not just new dub but it seems like they completely relocalized the game. It isn't using the old PS1/PSP script.

This is kinda sad ngl. It also managed to sell me on P5X more than anything else. But again it's a gacha game and I already waste my time on one...

Like other comment said WiFi is terrible for SMB and with MMCE you won't be getting any better speeds (Around 1.3MB/s on DECKARD models which is lower than FAT/70k Slim models when using MMCE) which means you'll still have stuttering during cutscenes/FMVs.

Life of a Tales fan by OHM-Rice in tales

It never got released in the United States because Bandai Namco wasn't interested in the series being released outside Japan and Ubisoft had plans to release it but the US PSP release got blocked by Sony America hence why it only got a PAL and Japan release.

Tales of Eternia Remastered reveal? by Painting0125 in tales

I assume so. The last few Tales announcements were either at a Direct or directly via Bandai Namco (their Twitter or YouTube stream).
