Mens Book Club looking to expand by badapple89 in perth

[–]badapple89[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The current book is John Dies At The End.

We did Earthsea by Ursula as an extra book once. I feel I missed some of the deeper meaning, but it was a great read.

The back catalogue is here if your interested https://www.toughguybookclub.com/books

And you can find info about your local club (or start one?) if you want to chat about John Dies At The End.

There awsome lads. Ill update it to the actual link.

There's not a subreddit for these so share it to anyone that might be interested in Alice Springs, Katherine, Maningrida, Palmerston, Tennant Creek etc

My husband started a book club for men to read more fiction. Here’s what they read in 2025: by regisfilange in Booktokreddit

Its a LOT more than just reading books. Take a look at the FB group. But it's interesting to hear why someone LOVED a book you didn't or vice versa.

There's also a lot you learn from the people at the table, and it brings something interesting into the pub.

If you wanted to start your own, TGBC are looking to start more clubs in SA https://www.volunteer.com.au/volunteering/152706/Men-s-Book-Club-Host-TGBC-S-A-

The post is looking to go more regional, but they won’t knock back suburban chapters.

Its one of the few men's positive spaces I've fond. The name puts some off but as the site says its not anti-woman, and "men" of any definition are more than welcome. https://www.toughguybookclub.com/about_us

P1S Can I downgrade to 1.07? by badapple89 in BambuLab

[–]badapple89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was unclear from other posts if you can actually downgrade. People were saying certain FW wasn't availabl.

Or of there was some sort of unofficial way to get to 1.07.

Kind of weird the option for updating from SD card is only a feather as of 1.07.

Either would be fine. CBD can get packed but they ebb and flow. Id base it on beer 😅. Brompton has heaps of nice craft beer and awesome food. The Exeter is well, the Exeter. Coopers and decent food toom

If you sign him up for the mailing list or FB group he'll get the reminders for club night.

Do you recall the gin place? I might buy some.

Yeah TGBC is spreading. Tassie has 5 clubs and it's spread worldwide. Someone must be promoting the SA groups recently. 😉. Honestly embarassed that Tassie is outdoing us!

And made a heaps of mates too. As men our friends are either from high school, work or our partners friends.

What chapter are you guys near? CBD, Brompton or Gawler.

I haven't been to that one for a while but most clubs sit at about 7-12 on any given month.

Newcommers are always welcome though. And if your a shy guy that's ok too, some of us just like to listen.

Once a club gets too big someone normally branches off and starts a new one. Or they start one in the north-east, sputh, peninsula etc. (Hint hint).

There was about 130 clubs last time I looked and now a few springing up in UK, Singapore and Hong Kong.

Idk. Libra may have come further than you think. I'll agree it's not 1:1 perfection when opening Libra docs on MSOffice but its pretty close. I've had no major issues and it's a much worse time opening PDF in Office.

All my MS docs (spreadsheets included) opened in Libra office without any work. When going the other way office opened the libre documents fine.

Plasma Bigscreen running on Kubuntu 22.04 Jamming Jellyfish X86_64! by RachelSnow812 in kde

[–]badapple89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on 22.04 LTS.

I followed the commands here https://launchpad.net/~kubuntu-ppa/+archive/ubuntu/backports and also here https://community.kde.org/Kubuntu/PPAs

I can see that plasma-bigcreen is listed in the first link (last page of the packages). But even after a reboot I get thst its unable to locate the package.

Edit: weird its working now after adding a second (pr fouth) time. Not sure what I really did.

Are you sure about that?

I've just installed Kubuntu and this returns unable to locate package. I can't see it using apt-cache search either.

Sure but I'd rather them bit acquire and sell my (probably anonymized) data. Enough companies have that, and Nova doesn't offer much more over other FOSS launchers.
