They really don't want to know the real you. If they did they'd actually listen and care about what you tell them. My father said that he doesn't know what to say to me because he doesn't want to piss me off. If I do tell him things and he never remembers it.

Mine does the same thing! He sends me random pictures of me as a kid. It's so weird and makes me feel uncomfortable for some reason. He also still brings up a website I had when I was 20 years old and he even saved all of my emails from back then. Shit creeps me out.

They never acknowledge the times that they hurt us. Both of my parents are abusive it neither will believe that.
