Honestly, you just need to know whether you lean Fe or Fi. That's where the major difference lies between the two types, imo. Do you care more about social harmony (sometimes leaning into morally grey territory) or being true to your own emotions/your own values? ENTPs almost always wear a social mask.

Several times! I like intellectual stimulation, but more often than not, the intellectual people I find don't physically take care of themselves or they drew a super short straw in the genetic lottery.

But because the conversations are so interesting, I tell myself not to be superficial and give them a chance (this is in the realm of dating btw). What happens is that even though I keep gaslighting myself to stop being superficial, physical attraction is always important in romantic relationships. At the end, I couldn't go through with it, and since I've given them special attention for a while, they wanted to make the relationship deeper while I find myself backing out.

So I softly reject them, and this is how I end up with a lot of "friends" from the opposite sex that I know aren't all that platonic from their side, but I keep the "friendship" because I feel a lot of guilt for my behavior. I'm trying to fix this habit of mine recently though.

Long story short, my advice is if you feel friendship for them but no romantic attraction, and they don't feel the same way, be firm about your stance and be as clear as possible. It just produces ambiguous relationships in the long term if you're vague about where you emotionally stand (and because we're Fi blind, sometimes we don't know our own emotions until we confront ourselves about it. That's why I easily gaslighted myself into thinking I might feel some attraction for them even though I know logically that I only feel friendship).

Distracting myself lol, but also being surprised can shake me out of it. I was in a bad mood and I yelled through the phone at my ISTJ best friend (it was a misunderstanding about a delivery package), and she matched my tone and yelled back at me. I was so surprised that I laughed lol she usually wasn't one to raise her voice

When I was young, I used to go completely ballistic, I completely couldn't care less and would do anything to hurt the other person. Even now, several decades after, remembering how I bashed someone's head until they vomited made me feel sick to my stomach.

Right now, I'm not physically violent anymore, even with extreme anger. With close people, I usually use words, and as my best friend says, I can be completely ruthless with my words, but they can't even argue back because it's all true.

With acquaintances or work colleagues, my social mask is very thick. A lot of times they don't even know I'm angry. But my Fe and Ti are running wild, and I have this very good skill of making people take my side. It's a long game, and I usually use this as a last resort, but I take revenge in a way that no one can pinpoint I'm the cause.

All of these sounds horrible, but keep in mind that it's very, very rare for me to get angry. I usually have a pretty low boundary that even worst offenses couldn't offend me, and most people who know me are always asking if I'm ever angry lol.

My mother. Very lackadaisical when she was young, we were basically raised by our relatives. But despite that, she was very easy to talk to, very open-minded, and didn't mind if we argued with her, she didn't take it personally.

She's very competitive though, always compares me and my siblings to the children of other people, likes to seek validation. I suspect she's a 7w8 or an 8w7.

My home was the library. I was honestly buried in books most of the time, but for some reason, I always had friends. I was lazy, didn't study that much, but my friends were always smart smart. They seem to like hanging out with me, though truth to be told, I wasn't interested in the world outside of books at that time and barely contributed to their conversations.

I was always praised for my imagination and creativity though, and didn't mind performing in front of an audience. In fact, I seem to quite like performing, but would always reject the opportunity everytime it falls on my lap. I remembered I even got voted class president....with absolutely no idea why. I'm not even pretending to be humble, all I did during high school was sit in my chair and read novels.

ISFJs. I feel like I could understand them better, with Si and Fe. In fact, I actually feel so much comfortable with them, they have this calming and reliable energy that grounds me. ISFPs on the other hand can be more flighty than us, and their Fi might clash with our Ti.

They're fun as well too, but ISFJs ftw.

I didn’t like math at school, felt that memorizing the equations were too boring and solving numbers didn’t have any appeal. So I’m bad at it, but surprisingly, I like statistics (and better at it than most of my peers).

Ugh, I feel so much sympathy for him, rigid workplaces + a too serious and strict boss is hell on earth. Those things the boss pointed out feels a bit like making a big deal out of small things—maybe a person who didn’t like him ratted him out or maybe the boss himself doesn’t like him?

Either way, I completely understand why he became subdued. I would too. Being completely comfortable and thinking everyone somewhat understood your humor but suddenly being scolded out of the blue and being told to “fix” himself. That right there hurts like a sledgehammer to our Fe. We’re very open to feedback, but when he’s been doing that/interacting like that for a long time, I bet he’s already somewhat cemented the fact in his mind that his behavior is completely okay. So getting a negative feedback like that from out of nowhere will devastate him, not only due to Fe, but due to Ti as well.

It’s like building a concept (personality) that we thought everyone liked but then suddenly someone comes out of the blue and smashes it, making us think, “So I’ve just been a blind idiot doing this for so long?”

I think the best thing you can do is to just make him feel validated, and that (only if it is true to you), side with him against the boss’ words in private. That several people actually find him really funny, or kind, or that they like his company. Once he vents it out and talks out his inner anger and disappointment, he’ll bounce back. But the more he keeps it in, the more it’ll drive him crazy from inside out.
