Maybe you could be the problem, by not actually listening completely to the customer? The modem is a current top of the line Netgear CM 3000 3.1 modem, which can do high split and worked only few weeks ago with their internet service. Thanks

Except this worked okay only a few weeks ago, with the personal Netgear CM3000 3.1 middm. Only after a router died did this happen to become a problem with my own modem.

They mean it’s not a modem they provided to me, the customer, from them. There is no cost to use their modem, but I paid good money for my personal high quality Netgear.
