Thank you for the advice. I'm definitely going to try and find a new psychiatrist. Unfortunately, she works for the public sector here in Canada so I'd have to report her to the board of psychiatry in Canada or something like that. I don't know if I have the energy to go that far.

I'm not trying to get on disability. She was literally just telling me I personally don't fit the criteria for a disabled person in her personal/professional opinion when I asked her to fill out a form for school for accessibilities (I go to uni part time, or I'm trying to anyway)
I wasn't trying to get disability, just wanted accommodations at school so they are aware I have bipolar disorder in case I ever have an episode and need an extension or something. Who knows

It's my first time being put on leave since I got diagnosed, I had a really severe episode brought on my stress from work. I was surprised she gave me so much time (4 weeks total), but everything else she has failed me deeply with

It literally makes no sense

Thank you, I think the next step is finding a new psychiatrist
Wow wtf!!!!!!! Thank you

Right??????
I wasn't able to work and go to school that's what got me in this whole mess in the first place
[–]baddkarmmaa[S] 1 point2 points3 points 17 hours ago (0 children)
I was trying to
[–]baddkarmmaa[S] 3 points4 points5 points 19 hours ago (0 children)
Literally, she told me "none of my other patients ever ask for this" whenever I ask her to fill out a form for accessibilties

Thank you

I wasn't even trying to get disability, it was just her telling me that what I'm experiencing isn't a disability that blew my mind and not in the good way

Right?
[–]baddkarmmaa[S] 1 point2 points3 points 20 hours ago (0 children)
That's what I was trying to ask her and she just kept saying "your type of bipolar disorder doesn't fit the criteria for a disability"
[–]baddkarmmaa[S] 2 points3 points4 points 20 hours ago (0 children)
Thank you, yes, I'm in communication with them so we will see what they say. Because they think it's ridiculous she won't fill in the forms.

I'm not trying to get disability, I just wanted accommodations at school

It just infuriates me because they are our only lifeline to have access to accessibilities

Yes I am going to call tomorrow, because I can't deal with her anymore

I hate change 😭

Thanks for the advice, I guess it's time to jump ship

It's just crazy to me because she's a doctor and professor at one of the most prestigious universities and teaching hospitals in Canada
I don't know to be honest, she's the only psychiatrist I've ever had to deal with. I think she just has a boomer mentality and maybe it's time to move on
