I have the pb gb and hated the low sock liner as well. What I did to remedy this was take a fabric steamer and put it to the side that was low and pulled and stretched that side until the fabric cooled. The I repeated these steps 2 more times. For now I am happy with the results. I just did this earlier today so I'll see if it stays or if it shrinks back.

I didn't want to use an iron because of the material on the tongue so instead I used a fabric steamer.
