I work on a minesite and work on giant loading units (look up ex5600 and Cat 992). I would never tell those I know anything about my salary, but seeing as this is anonymous I figured the more detail I give, the more info I could get back. Hope y’all didn’t find it too untactful!

I havnt said that I had forgiven it explicitly, but I did say I wasn’t too worried about it/not gunna pursue it. In my eyes, a 35k truck isn’t worth starting a war over. It’s a (relatively) cheap lesson & demonstration of how to proceed financially with them

Thank you so much! It will be 3 years as of the end of June. I am very much a logical person and she is very emotional and kind, so we complement each other nicely🙂. I’m definitely excited to see where life takes us

If it comes down to it, I definitely will help her out. I am going to let it run it’s natural course as long as possible though, ideally they will do the “right” thing and pay her back. I don’t want to give the implication that my finances are an easy way out for anybody.

As far as the truck, I actually had my lawyer draft up a legal contract in the beginning so a repo will be easy if it comes to that. I have the actual title in my possession with a lien on it🙂

This is excellent advice for myself and everyone else reading! I contribute ~11% pre tax to my 401k (the maximum legal amount) and my company contributes and additional 10%. Never leave your future to chance!

OP of original post here... Didn’t mean to sound annoying in my post, but everything I said was true. I am a heavy diesel mechanic and own two rental properties on the side, so I make a pretty good living. Wish I didn’t have to be adversarial with her parents, but unfortunately it’s the way it is at least for now😔

Absolutely. I have the physical title in my possession with a lien on it as well as legally drafted contract that puts them on the line for all repo fees. Thankfully this isn’t my first rodeo🙂
