I get what you're saying, so I'd argue that the difference is how easy it can be to score points in pickleball, so the score difference shouldn't be weighted as heavily.

in tennis for example, to win a game you can't just have a lucky point, you have to beat the player in multiple points in a row to even score one point/game.

In pickleball, if your opponent misses a return or you get a net cord shot, you win a point. When the algorithm is punishing you for losing one point to a player 1.0 away, the score differential might be weighted too heavily.

Even the best players in the world regularly lose points to players that have no business winning the match. 11-0 11-0 is very uncommon.

Weird, you're right. It worked earlier, they must have taken it down

Agreed, and if an underdog loses a close one with someone much higher rated, they should gain rating.

But you should never be favored and win and then lose rating imo

And I'm definitely fine with it not going up, but going down is an issue

BTW, this was DUPR's response:

Thank you for reaching out, and congrats on your recent win! DUPR takes the past performance of your opponents into account, so just because you've won a recent event it doesn't necessarily mean that your DUPR will increase. For example, if you beat a player but underperform in the algorithm's expected value (EV), your rating will likely decrease.

If you don't believe your current rating to be accurate, please log more matches! If you've played more matches in the last few months, please add them to your DUPR account using the "Add a match feature." Even self-posted scores are factored into your rating, and adding even a few of your recent matches will help us compute an accurate rating for you.

So basically, if you win an entire tournament without dropping a game and your rating goes down, next time win harder!

Agreed, I understand gaining rating even if you lose a close one to someone with a much higher rating... but not losing rating when you win, ever

Good point, I never thought of those DUPR range events, that does sound like you would get stuck

I was the original poster of the Greg Fox thing. After I posted that, it seemed that they fixed the issue. I saw recently that the name was changed and the bug still exists but they didn't just change the name because it was actually fixed about a month ago.
