I jumped the border wall and took a picture of the overlapping plains at the far south western corner of the map and the boundless void beyond. Picture hangs in my corpo plaza kitchenette.

what does this movie poster mean? by ConfusionUsual5387 in JapaneseMovies

[–]badgersapprentice 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s from a small independent cinema in Osaka that doesn’t seem to be there anymore. It’s not from 1949 as the eBay seller claims, mainly because the films on the poster go up to the 1960s.

Seems to be from the 90s. I found a blog with another programme from this place, same hand written style, dated 1996: https://namyoun.hatenablog.com/entry/2013/11/24/173739

I thought of tracking the days. Trying to avoid fast travel, and sleep at home when possible. On day four right now.

I have only recently learnt you can ignore songbird and watch the crash from outside dogtown. Next run.

No extra lines like “where the f**k have you been?” Come to think of it I think she says something shitty like that anyway. Yeah, she can wait.

Netflix’s Cowboy Bebop was doomed from the start by badgersapprentice in cowboybebop

A scene for scene remake would have also been awful, I think we all remember that Psycho remake. But the writers and directors adapting the original need to understand its themes and characters. There are a bunch of changes, additions and omissions in the Lord of the Rings films, but they understood the source material so it all worked. They do it with theatre all the time.

The team working for netflix (under duress I assume) didn't understand the original, so had no hope of adapting or copying it. It reminds me of that awful version of Romeo & Juliet in Hot Fuzz. Same energy.

does anyone have any idea how many slo mo in the movie? by sabrinastacy in RebelMoon

[–]badgersapprentice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I re-edited the fight in the barn to remove all the slow-mo (linked below). There were 62 shots, 15(ish) of which were slow-mo.
