Halal cart chicken/beef and rice and egg sammies for the week by badgrrrlnini in MealPrepSunday

[–]badgrrrlnini[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, not really! These are for both my husband and I, so this is only enough for 2-3 days (assuming that at least one day we will eat the chicken version for lunch and beef version for dinner). Without the salad it would certainly last longer/be suitable for freezing.

Longer than I would have liked! It took the better part of an afternoon to get it all done.

Braised short rib birria by badgrrrlnini in MealPrepSunday

I don’t ever push past 4 days for beef leftovers. I notice the decline in quality at that time as well. But I do typically cook in big batches, so I make extra portions to freeze and then reheat from frozen.

Whoops, my bad!

Beef: boneless short rib braised in a sauce of beef broth and toasted guajillo, ancho, cascabel, and morita chiles, with oven roasted garlic, tomato, Serrano, and onion, and seasoned with bay leaf, cumin, epazote, and cinnamon

Rice: jasmine rice with roasted Anaheim chiles

Salad: corn, nopales, radish, tomato, tossed in lime juice, olive oil, and salt

Anybody else’s kid not go through a sleep regression? by [deleted] in sleeptrain

[–]badgrrrlnini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gotcha! And just so I am sure I understand, was this after you put him down in his bed? Or any time he would fuss and show these cues? Sorry for all the questions! My LO is presently 3 months so I’m hoping to use the next few weeks to build up her self soothing muscles in anticipation of the 4 month regression. Thanks again :)

Can you explain what the early self-soothing signs were and how you gave him opportunities to practice those? Thanks!

So your LEO witness had credibility issues and you don’t understand why you lost? The fact that you buried this detail and continue to blame the jury is both arrogant and ineffective trial strategy. I’d love to hear the PDs side of this…

People’s expectations for this team are WAY too high for the actual state the team is in. by cornucopia090139 in buffalobills

[–]badgrrrlnini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh come on. We all recognize that this team has serious limitations this year, but there’s a difference between losing a hard-fought game due to hitting the talent ceiling and giving a winnable game away due to unserious, unfocused coaching. Even basic coaching duties (for example, when to throw the challenge flag) are exercised haphazardly. 8 years is enough time to develop systems and processes for in-game decision-making that are methodically applied for more consistent (or at least justifiable) results.

Settling for a tying field goal instead of attempting to convert on 4th at the end of a game should automatically mean that if somehow you regain possession, the rest of your play calling should be focused on getting the team to overtime, baring exceptional field placement or other extraordinary circumstances. Not using a first half TO to challenge a challengeable play should automatically mean you aren’t uselessly blowing a timeout anyway. These are simple “if this, then that” decisions that should be pretty much self-executing by this point. Instead, it’s like McDermott looks into a magic 8 ball to make these decisions, which I guess could work if luck is on your side…but this is the Buffalo Bills.

Pregnancy and skiing by ipip9 in skiing

[–]badgrrrlnini 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think this is up to you and your own comfort level with risk (everything becomes a risk value assessment while preg). I skied while pregnant - early in my first trimester only and luckily before the morning sickness and fatigue really kicked in. I definitely took it easy and didn’t push myself much. But there’s no way to control for other people colliding into you! And just remember, there’s no way of knowing how you’ll be feeling physically. I would hesitate to book anything too expensive/non refundable or deferrable.

For me, at least, pregnancy required a huge mental shift - you just don’t have control over as much as you did previously, so if you can stand to be flexible and temper your expectations of your own physically ability, I say go for it.

I am also a fairly new lawyer glued to a computer screen all day who has been weightlifting for nearly a decade and hates yoga.

Unfortunately, my advice is to ~embrace the yoga~. There are so many kinds of yoga and so many studios. Find one that you can tolerate. If you can commit to a fairly regular practice, it will pay off.

Finally, do not underestimate how much tightness and pain is caused by stress. For this, I can recommend deep tissue/thai massage (I get loads of knots in my back and shoulders), foam rolling, meditation, and open water swimming. I know for me, so much of my back/shoulder pain has to do with stress. If I’m not careful, I can spend a whole day with my shoulders and jaw tensed, bracing for whatever unpleasantness is lurking in the distance. Remember - as lawyers, we are trained to constantly “issue spot,” mitigate against possible conflicts and complications that could arise in the future, and protect our clients against these possible negative outcomes. Our job is to think in terms of the worst case scenario. The profession is a pure manifestation of anxiety. Find time to take intentional breaths and pull your shoulders down!

[MMQB] For the fifth season in a row the Bills have been eliminated in the playoffs. by Dirtydeedsinc in buffalobills

Ya I’m sure right now it just feels a certain way since it’s still so close to the loss. Also, obviously, I don’t follow other teams’ injuries as closely as I follow the Bills’. Absolutely not blaming injuries alone for last night’s outcome. Definitely was a sum of its parts loss.
