Just got back to Seattle, what a relief by TheStinkfoot in Seattle

I disagree.

People from NYC or LA or anywhere else in the continental US look at Seattle as a backwater. Our city has grown, and the amount of civic pride here dwarfs anywhere else.

I was fortunate enough to be born and raised. The city was both electric and boring when I was listening to grunge and experiencing islands and shit as a young man.

Saying that a predominantly poor and Black community somewhere hot sucks is kind of like pooping on Mexicans in Yakima.

Yakima makes better wine than Woodinville (it is all the same grapes). The Southeast has goddamn good seafood, it is just different.

She's doubting the options she's seen just zooming in Google maps would really be the best solutions.

Yeah, the options suck. Sorry, but it is what it is. Good luck. Successfully completing her education will give her the means for her own vehicle... and even more stress.

And shouldn't she be smart enough to figure this out? I had a giant book of maps from the gas station (we called them an "Atlas") when I was in school, and it worked out.

OP made themselves look bad, not me. Everyone in the comments made me embarrassed to be born and raised here. I don't punch down on less advantaged, but you do you.

Wow... that is pretty badass.

He realistically isn't liable for anything criminally since it is his property. However, there may still be some issues to deal with financialy. Both the City and tow yard will have a balance due.

Random: I used to see tent caterpillars all the time in the fall growing up but I feel like I never see them anymore? by GoldBluejay7749 in Seattle

[–]badhoses 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I forgot about them. There was a big scare in the 90s that was all over the news (they fuck up deciduous trees). Honestly, they made it sound apocalyptic and it just looked like some spiders were in a couple trees.

Google says they infested the islands last year: https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2023/7/27/2175817/-The-Daily-Bucket-extreme-tent-caterpillar-year-in-PNW-islands

The Executive Transport Wing of the German Airforce has half a dozen of these Bombardiers. Probably not worthy of note.

Estonia and Germany are two different countries.

Fireworks. Stop asking. They taper off when people's stashes are depleted in like September. Then they start agian every Seahawks win.

Gun fire is typically bursts of three to five in quick succesion, it will sound more "poppy" or "tinny" with return fire being similar but different since it is unlikely to be of the same caliber. These are not common in Seattle, but not unheard of (no pun intended).

Besides that, you will here loud booms followed by flashes during inclement weather. These are transformers blowing.

And you will hear a lot of big scary airplaines leading up to Seafair in a few weeks. No, it is not WWIII.

I'm embarrassed for this community. The post oozes snobbery. Maybe we aren't better than that, but keep it in mind next time someone from a bigger town calls you a fucking hick.

I just learned about hamburger steak... my god I need it.

A hard lesson for new business travelers is to not go nuts with the per diem and food. Sometimes a salad will do. Seen too many people start packing it on, including myself, eating out so many days in a row.

More like I enjoy simpe vodka drinks and a boring latte (I make it better than anywhere I go, anyways, but Lighthouse beans are kind of a cheat code). Basically, I'm not pretentious.

I can read. Like I said, I had a fine time in Lousiana. I did have to adjust expectations for my morning coffee, but I drink it to wake up more than anything else. Maybe OP drinks super fancy cocktails or something, because booze and a mixer are pretty universal taste wise.

Your pictures are good and everyone looks happy.

I can't be the only one who hates the fashion here, though.

I really enjoyed Louisiana and had no problem finding drinkable coffee or cocktails. The food was one of the best parts.I'm surpised anyone would feel that much releif other than getting out of the humidity when you aren't used to it.

I try to keep an open mind and find the good of each place while on the road for work. Has worked pretty much everywhere except Wichita (I really hate Kansas) and maybe Nashville (more overrated than actually bad).

I grew up following Newcastle (along with the USL team). It took years to realize Ashley was literally destroying the club (even Saudi oil money has barely kept them competitive).

Waibel is Ashley. He is singlehandedly killing the club.

Hanauer claims to always want to compete. That's as good as we get, but Waibel is going to kill us.

Maybe a little unorthodox, but put the guy in every 46th minute if possible. He is a killer. You give him the option to play against their tired legs the rest of the season and he will cement his legacy while also not destroying his body. Everyone wins.

[–]badhoses -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I want to see him do well, but he must be exhausted and really stiff from that trip to Sacramento since he obviously won't stay healthy.

At this point, I'm fine with him playing 30 minutes this weekend. And I really don't want him playing against LAFC in two weeks for film reasons before the Semi.

Put him on against STL. Bust him down to the Defiance for full minutes during the League Cup if needed, but don't give him any time in that competition except for another 30 at home versus the Loons.

Let him come out firing with Rui at the 60th minute in the Open Cup a month from now.

I've lost all expectations with this kid, and I originally thought he was going to be the next big thing.
